Famous Friends Speak about Amy Winehouse's Death

Singer Amy Winehouse was found dead Saturday in her Camden flat. Reactions to her death convey the sadness felt by those who knew her personally, as well as those who only knew her through her music. The world lost a remarkable talent at the age of 27, as the following quotes express.

"i cant even breath right my now i'm crying so hard i just lost 1 of my best friends. i love you forever Amy & will never forget the real you!" -- Kelly Osbourne shared on her Twitter page after learning of the news. Osbourne was planning on attending Kim Kardashian's bridal shower later that day but canceled plans in light of this news.

"She was my musical soulmate and like a sister to me. This is one of the saddest days of my life." -- Producer Mark Ronson, according to MTV. He worked with Winehouse and had plans of continuing work until this tragic event.

In a press statement, Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings said, "She was one of a kind and we were fortunate to have had the chance to make music with her. She was always gracious and a pleasure to work with in the studio and on the road. She brought a lot of people joy with her voice and her irreverent personality. It is a tragedy that she was taken from us so soon when she had much more music to give."

"I am truly devastated that her exceptional talent has come to such an early end. She was a lovely and intelligent person and when we recorded together she gave a soulful and extraordinary performance." -- Tony Bennett shared with US Weekly. He recently worked with the singer in March when they recorded the classic pop standard "Body and Soul" at Abbey Road Studios in London.

Kelly Clarkson expressed on her blog her thoughts on Winehouse's passing. As someone thrust into the spotlight herself, she recognizes the unique stress the music business puts on individuals. Clarkson wrote:

"She was a beautiful and talented girl. I'm angry. What a waste of a gifted person. What a shame she saw no hope and continued living her life in that manor. I have been that low emotionally and mentally and that is overwhelming. I keep asking myself why some of us are spared and the others are made examples. I'm very angry and sad. I don't know why it's bothering me so much. Sometimes I think this job will be the death of us all, or at least the emotional death of us all...."

"heart is heavy. My heart goes out 2 Amy Winehouse's family, loved ones. Praying for their strength during this time." Janelle Monae said on Twitter, also speaking of the time they spent together on tour. "was honoured then and I am now that I had the opportunity to share the same tour and stage with Amy this year in Brazil ... At our first meeting she was very shy, a sweet girl. Her first words to me were, 'It's so nice to meet you finally, I'm shy, you're a shy girl like me, huh?' ... I am so happy for her recordings as we will forever get to hear a rare talent with a voice all her own. There will never be a tone or vocal delivery like Amy's. May her music and voice live forever."

After many false claims of celebrities dying, and Winehouse's brushes with death in the past due to her addictions, it is only natural a few of her fellow artists were unsure if they should believe the news. Nicki Minaj wrote on Twitter, "Please tell me Amy Winehouse didn't die. Is this some sick joke?" As did Young Money MC -- "Please tell me Amy Winehouse didn't die, is this some sick joke" -- and Cee Lo Green -- "Is it true about amy?"

Sophia Bush sums it all up with her tweet, "This Amy Winehouse news is just so sad . To anyone struggling with addiction, please, please, please seek treatment."
