Another said, "Where's Muhammad Ali?"
I know. I know. These guys are the baddest of sports "bad boys" and I missed out on them. And then there are others like Catfish Hunter, Billy Martin, and Reggie Jackson.
With that said, here are more quotes from the baddest of the bad.
Charles Barkley
"I don't create controversies. They're there long before I open my mouth. I just bring them to your attention."
On a visit to Monaco, Barkley said, "If you're an alcoholic, this is a good place to come because a beer can cost you $40. You can't afford to be a drunk here."
"Thank God for Jerry Springer's show. I thought only black people were that screwed up until I watched Jerry Springer."
"I don't care what people think. People are stupid."
Muhammad Ali
"I'm not the greatest; I'm the double greatest. Not only do I knock 'em out, I pick the round."
And an Ali poem: "I done wrestled with an alligator, I done tussled with a whale; handcuffed lightning, thrown thunder in jail; only last week, I murdered a rock, injured a stone, hospitalized a brick; I'm so mean I make medicine sick."
"I'm so fast that last night I turned off the light switch in my hotel room and got into bed before the room was dark."
"Superman don't need no seatbelt."
On opponent Joe Frazier: "Frazier is so ugly that he should donate his face to the US Bureau of Wildlife."
"When you can whip any man in the world, you never know peace."
Reggie Jackson
"I didn't come to New York to be a star. I brought my star with me."
Catfish Hunter
On Reggie Jackson: "He'd give you the shirt off his back. Of course, he'd call a press conference to announce it."
Reggie Jackson
When he was playing for Baltimore, Reggie said, "If I played in New York, they'd name a candy bar after me."
Catfish Hunter
After Reggie came to New York, a candy bar was named after him. Friend and teammate Catfish Hunter didn't let this opportunity pass. "You open it (the Reggie Bar) up and it tells you how good it is."
Billy Martin
New York Yankees then manager Billy Martin said of his nemeses, Yankees owner George Steinbrenner and Reggie Jackson, "They're made for each other. One's a born liar (Jackson), the other's convicted (Steinbrenner)."
Manager Billy Martin on his players: "When I get through managing, I'm going to open a kindergarten."
