Hollywood and its movie stars provide a rich history in paranormal activity. Even after death some of these celebrities return for yet another ghostly encore. While some movie stars return in a ghostly fashion, other celebrities are haunted by spirits themselves.

Famous stars such as: Marilyn Monroe, George Reeves, and also Rudolf Valentino have been seen in Hollywood in the spirit form. Listed below are several of the most famous celebrity hauntings in Hollywood.

Marilyn Monroe

One of the most prolific stars of Hollywood was Marilyn Monroe. Although her death has provoked: mystery, intrigue, and also speculation, memories of this superstar remain long past her demise.

Numerous reports state that the spirit of Monroe haunts numerous locations around the Hollywood area. One of the most popular spots to catch a glimpse of this superstar in the spirit form is the Roosevelt Hotel on Hollywood Boulevard. This hotel was the home to Monroe during her rise to stardom.

Many sightings of Monroe's spirit have been seen in a full length mirror which was once in Monroe's suite at the hotel. This mirror was once near the pool area, but has been re-located to the lower floor of the hotel near the elevators.

Monroe's ghost is also reported to have been seen by her burial site at Westwood Memorial Cemetery. Many have stated that they've seen the spirit of Marilyn floating above her tomb. This cemetery is located at 1218 Glendon Avenue.

But, most sources do agree that the spirit of Marilyn Monroe is most active at the sight of her death in Brentwood. May she rest in peace.

Montgomery Cliff

Best known for his roles in movies such as: "From Here to Eternity," and also the "Misfits" which also starred Marilyn Monroe, Montgomery's spirit is also said to haunt the halls and one room of the Roosevelt Hotel.

According to some of the staff at the hotel, Montgomery's spirit haunts room number 928. It was in this suite that Cliff frantically paced back and forth as he tried to memorize his lines for the movie "From Here to Eternity."

Numerous unexplained noises have been reported coming from this empty suite, as well as the telephone being left off of the hook when the room has been unoccupied.

The Roosevelt is also the site of the very first Academy Awards ceremony in 1929. The "Blossom Ballroom" where the ceremony was held, has a rather odd cold spot which is ten degrees cooler than the rest of the ballroom. This cold spot is a circular area which measures 30 inches in diameter.

George Reeves (Superman)

For five long years George Reeves was every child's hero as he played the part of Superman on television. George was not new to Hollywood either; he had played parts in movies such as "Gone with the Wind" and many other B movies.

But the claim to fame for George Reeves was "The Adventures of Superman" which ran from 1953 -1957. Then George died in his home from a gunshot wound in 1959. Although the official cause of the death was ruled a suicide, others contend that Reeves was murdered.

One couple living in the former home of Reeves stated that the ghost of Reeves appeared in the bedroom "decked out in his Superman outfit." The couple watched the mysterious looking spirit as it slowly faded away. Of course this sighting happened in the room where Reeves died.

Some believe that Reeves death can be explained by the "Superman Curse. You can find out more details about the curse at: "The truth about the Superman curse."

Other celebrities whose spirits can be seen around Hollywood are Rudolf Valentino whose ghost has reportedly has been seen in his old bedroom, and also around the horse stables of his Hollywood home.

Other sources state that the ghosts of Rudolf Valentino and Marilyn Monroe have also been seen together. It seems that Marilyn is still popular even in the afterlife.

Princess Stephanie of Monaco states that she received information from the ghost of her mother (Grace Kelly) which enabled her to write a song.

Mary Pickford who was a silent screen star has also been seen gracing the spirit world. Pickford a writer, producer, and also a co-founder of United Artists was seen by comic Buddy Rodgers as her ghost appeared in a white ruffled dress.

The spirit of Jean Harlow has also been reported to have been seen in the bedroom of her home where she was "allegedly beaten" by her husband.

Celebrities Who Have Witnessed Ghosts:

Neve Campbell who has played parts in paranormal movies such as "The Craft" and also "Scream" shares her home with a disembodied spirit. Along with her encounter with the ghost, Campbell's friends and acquaintances have also witnessed the spirit of a lady in Campbell's home. This ghost is believed to be the spirit of a woman who was murdered in the house where Campbell now lives.

Keanu Reeves was very young when he saw a ghost in the form of a double breasted suit enter into his bedroom in New Jersey one night. This spirit was also witnessed by his nanny.

Matthew McConaughey said he literally "freaked out" the first time he saw the ghost of an old lady. McConaughey now refers to the spirit as "Madame Blue" who floats around his home.

Dan Aykroyd has long been fascinated by the paranormal. Dan feels that his home is haunted by the former owner of the house: Cass Elliot of the Mamma's and the Papa's. This spirit turns on the Stairmaster, and has also even climbed into bed with Aykroyd. Dan believes that this spirit is Cass because "you get the feeling it's a big ghost."

Elke Sommers' house was so haunted that the American Society for Physical Research was brought in to check out the home. Since the paranormal activity was documented this home has been sold over 17 times since Sommers vacated the house.

Ethan Hawk and Uma Thurman reluctantly abandoned their "dream home" in Sneden's Landing N.Y. It soon became very apparent that this house was very haunted. Both Hawk and Thurman are still very reluctant to discuss their frightening ordeal.

So, the next time you're thinking about buying a home, be sure to check out all of the past residents. It might also be a good idea to have the "Ghostbusters" check out the house before you move in.
