Famous Psychics - an Interesting List

Jack Scelzo
A psychic is a person is able to divine information about a person or the world using extrasensory perception (ESP) otherwise known as a sixth sense. The way people are able to divine this information varies from person to person. Some people claim to receive guidance from spiritual guides while others have said they were able to talk to the dead. Still others get their information similar to receiving a radio signal in their head. Most people, especially those in the scientific community, write off these claims as self delusion, trickery, or enhanced powers of observation (also known as mentalist techniques). Nevertheless, there have been a number of famous psychics that challenge people's beliefs.

John Edwards - He is well known for his television shows Crossing over with John Edwards and John Edwards Cross Country. Though he was raised as a Roman Catholic, he no longer practices the religion. When he was 15, he received a psychic reading from a woman who lived in New Jersey. He says she told him that he would become a medium. Previous to become a nationally syndicated psychic and one of many famous psychics, Edwards worked as a phlebotomist. In 1998, he wrote a book about his psychic abilities which launched his career in the field.

Doreen Virtue - She is a self described spiritual doctor of psychology and metaphysician. Doreen is well known for her books on angels, Crystal and Indigo children, chakras, and health and wellness. She holds a B.A., M.A., and Ph.D in Counseling Psychology and founded WomanKind Psychiatric Hospital. According to her biography, she was always able to communicate with angels but suppressed her abilities due to the negative feedback she received from other children. It wasn't until she was nearly carjacked that she finally began listening to her angel guides again. Through her work, many of her fans consider her to be the best of the famous psychics.

Charles Webster Leadbeater - In the beginning of his career, he was a clergyman for the Church of England. He eventually left the church in favor of becoming a member of the Theosophical Society as well as co-founding the Liberal Catholic Church. In addition to his studies into the occult, Leadbeater is known for his clairvoyance. However, it is his writings on Christian esotericism and the sacraments which remain extremely popular to this day. There are a number of other famous psychics worth looking up using your favorite search engine.

I'm still pretty skeptical of psychics. They're always incredibly vague about their predictions until they can hone in on something and get by with lucky guesses. None of them can really stand up to serious scrutiny.
