As one of the world's fashion capitals, New York boasts many great shopping destinations, such as Macy's and Barney's. Many high-end locations have cutting-edge fashion at premium prices.

Macy's
Occupying 1 million square feet of space and eight floors, the Macy's Herald Square flagship store is a colossal, one-of-a-kind shopping experience. A registered landmark, the store boasts mid-priced clothing for the whole family from designers like Calvin Klein as well as accessories and home furnishings. Additionally, according to Molly Noonan of New York Magazine, Macy's has the largest selection of kitchen accessories and housewares in the city. There is also a "cellar-level market" where gourmet foods are prepared.

Barney's New York
Barney's New York contains cutting-edge fashions at steep prices, according to Frommer's. As Carolyn Murnick from New York magazine states, Barney's attracts the "old guard" customers from New York's Upper East Side as well as fashion aficionados from downtown. Barney's Co-ops are industrial-style stores that carry more casual clothing than the Madison Avenue Flagship store.

Bergdorf Goodman
Bergdorf Goodman is another shopping mecca. Top American and European designers are represented in accommodating ways. For instance, the shoe display of European designers is next to their collections on the same floor. Bergdorf also has clothing from less expensive lines and collections that cater to younger customers. It also accommodates about-to-be-wed shoppers by having a wedding gown section and bridal registry.

Sax Fifth Avenue
Sax Fifth Avenue contains high-end collections, like Barney's and Bergdorf. It also has an extensive bridal department where brides can purchase gowns, shoes and clothing for brides maids. The eighth floor contains the SFA café, a café and bar for shoppers.

Bloomingdale's
Since 1886, this store has been serving well-to-do New York shoppers. Today it serves a larger crowd by carrying merchandise with more moderate prices along with its high-end products. As Carolyn Murnick of New York Magazine states, it appears to cater to the tourist and business lunch crowd, rather than the wealthy New York shopper. This concept is seen in the SoHo Bloomingdale's which does not have the furniture section or traditional labels but rather carries designers of moderately-priced products like Ted Baker.

Adidas Original Store
The Adidas Original Store in Soho carries a variety of medium-priced clothing. The store not only carries 1960s- to 1980s-inspired shoes but a wealth of other items. Watches, headbands, T-shirts and tanks and swimwear are just some of the things that can be purchased at the store. Additionally, the clothings lines of Mohamed Ali, Missy Elliot and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar are also available.
