Fans Want to Rock N Roll All Night...And See Kiss Part of History

Fans Protest to Support Kiss' Bid for Hall of Fame

The band Kiss has always proclaimed to have the best fans in the world. They may be right. Followers from across the nation protested in Ohio, demanding that the 5 glammed up, aging rockers be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Nearly 200 fans showed up, some in full Kiss make-up, carrying signs in support of Kiss' bid.

The half hour rally was held at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum August 5th. Participants were singing the band's praises and showing their frustration at not having Kiss inducted, though the rockers have been eligible since the late 1990s. Artists become eligible to join 25 years after their first record release.

According the museum's website, other factors also weigh in on the decision to join the historic ranks. "Criteria include the influence and significance of the artist's contributions to the development of rock and roll." A spokesman for the Hall of Fame said it was the first fan protest it has seen for an induction. They may have missed the mark though. The foundation that selects nominees for the honor is based in New York City, not in Ohio.
