Invitations are the first important element of your tea party. How you present your party and invite guests plays a big role in setting it up. You can be creative and make your own invitations with a hand drawn tea pot. You can find some pretty floral invitations at your local store, or even create something fun on the computer. You can find pretty paper to use at your local office supply store. The ideas here are endless. You can choose what will work best for what you to convey to your guests. Here is another idea. You can put on the invitations for your guest to wear their favorite hat.
The location of your tea party is important as well. It can be inside your home, in your backyard or even somewhere else of your choosing. Simple decorating works well for a tea party.
Some ideas for decorating would be using pastel colors. You can use a pastel colored tablecloth, dishes, and napkins. Have a colorful bouquet of flowers for your centerpiece.
Simple foods are good to serve at your tea party. There is no need to slave away in the kitchen. You can serve simple sandwiches such as tuna, chicken salad, or ham. Have a few cookies and other pastries available. Of course you will want to serve tea, but you could also have other beverages available such as lemonade and coffee.
A nice touch at tea parties is to have small party favors for your guests. Some ideas here are your favorite recipe written on fancy paper, a pretty set of notecards, a small box of fancy chocolate or a sweet candle.
Another neat idea that I have seen is to tell each of your guest to bring a cup and saucer they are willing to part with. During the party each guest can see what the other guests brought and they can trade. This may work better for a larger tea party.
Speaking of bigger tea parties if you are planning a tea party for an organization, church or club you may want to consider having door prizes. Everyone loves door prizes. Ideas for that could be a gift card to a nice restaurant, a bigger sized candle, nice potted plant, or a gift basket with teas and chocolate.
On bigger parties you could also score a special speaker. This could be anyone you know and who you think others would enjoy. Think a lady with a nice sense of humor and great speaking ability. You might even know a great motivational speaker who would be willing to come and speak.
Tea parties are fun. You don't have to stress out too. Some simple planning and organization is all it will take to create a memorable tea party your guests will remember.
