Fantasia Barrino appeared on ABC's Good Morning America for her first interview following her suicide attempt on August 9th. Fantasia, who admitted taking an entire bottle of aspirin and some sleeping pills says she was tired of the personal drama in her life and people taking advantage of her and decided suicide was the only way to peace.

The former American Idol winner was very candid in the tearful interview admitting, "I didn't have any fight in me. I didn't care about anything. At that moment, I wanted out. I wanted it to be over with all of it. I just sat in the closet and looked at the mirror and took all the pills in the bottle. I wanted to go to sleep and just be at peace. I knew exactly what I was doing. You can't accidentally take a whole bottle of pills."

She also talked about her VH1 Behind the Music special airing on Tuesday night where she opened up not only about the suicide attempt, but also being told by her father that being raped by a classmate in her school gym was her fault because of the clothes she wore in High School.

Fantasia said in the Good Morning America interview she was blindsided by allegations from her boyfriend Antwuan Cook's ex-wife Paula Cook she was sleeping with a married man and she knew he was still married when the affair started. Paula Cook came forward publicly August 9th hours before Fantasia's family called 911 to report she was semi-conscious and had taken an overdose of pills in her North Carolina home.

Fantasia had responded to Paula Cook's allegations that morning in a statement from her lawyer saying Antwuan told her from the start of their relationship he and his wife were over. Antwuan Cook stated he and his wife broke up 11 months earlier, something his ex-wife denies. Paula Cook filed a lawsuit against Barrino the morning she was released from the hospital seeking damages for stealing her husbands affections.

Fantasia went on to admit she has always suffered from trust issues and being lonely thought Antwuan Cook was her new start to a life full of drama and people trying to take advantage of her and her sudden fame.

While Fantasia and Antwuan remain friends, and were seen together holding hands while filming Fantasia's reality show The Real Fantasia, the couple broke up after the allegations became public and the backlash started coming to Fantasia, who was accused of being a home-wrecker.

Fantasia admitted she was angry and disappointed when she woke up in a North Carolina hospital and realized she was still alive. She went on to say it was the tough talk from a nurse that made her realize she had everything to live for. In her interview on VH1 Barrino admits, "(I was like), 'It didn't work, I'm still here in this hellhole; still here with all this drama going on.'"

But, she adds the nurse "was a blessing into my life because she didn't tell me what I wanted to hear, she told me what I needed to hear and she looked at me and said, 'You gotta get up and you gotta get outta here, because you haven't fulfilled your destiny."

Fantasia wouldn't address the rumors that talk show host Oprah Winfrey offered Paula Cook a platform on her show to discuss her side of the story. After Fantasia's suicide attempt the negative publicity shifted from Fantasia to Paula Cook who was accused of running a smear campaign that drove the singer over the edge.
