Fantasia Barrino Performs Live in Las Vegas (Video)

Fantasia Barrino Bounces Back with a Great New Album

Magnolia Miller
Wind-up, Kewpie Doll, Fantasia Barrino is back. She has a new album, Back to Me, which is definitely getting good initial reviews, and a new attitude to boot.

Fantasia Performs with Snoop Dogg

Fantasia performed at The Palms Casino in Las Vegas to a hot and sweaty crowd that included Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher. She performed a rousing, funky version (is there any other?) of Aretha Franklin's "Rock Steady" with Snoop Dogg. Fantasia sounded great, but will somebody please tell Snoop Dogg to be quiet? (See the Performance Here)

Fanstasia is Not Consistent

I've got a love/hate relationship with Fantasia. When she's hot, she's hot. And when she is, she's a passionate, soul singer that I would put in the same class as Aretha Franklin any day of the week.

But, then, there are other times where she screeches with a scratchy voice and just makes a mess out of things. Some of her American Idol performances were not all that impressive, frankly, yet she still took home the top prize. Because, as with all art, it's not always about technical delivery. It's about heart, soul and passion, something which Fantasia Barrino has plenty of.

Fantasia Sees Herself as a Victim

It would be nice though, if she could stop framing herself as a victim. When discussing her recent suicide attempt to the Vegas crowd, she used phrases like, "they, the haters," "they thought I was done" or "they thought I was finished." Huh?

Who the hell is "they" Fantasia? The wife of your lover? Okay. Yeah. But, as a woman, certainly you can understand why she might not exactly have you on her Christmas card list, you know? Outside of that, I don't know anyone that "hates" you or wants you to be "washed up" or "finished". Hardly.

In fact, people are rooting for you, Fantasia. Myself included. Even if I do think you sound like a wind-up doll and you don't always bring you're A-game when you perform. I think you have a lot to offer people in terms of entertainment and artistry. But, seriously, girl, lose the victim mentality. It's not attractive.

I pretty much agree with Malina's comment. I won't willingly spend money to see or hear someone who's involved in that type of behavior.

I really have a problem with any woman who is in a relationship with a married man. I would never watch, enjoy or encourage her. Until women and men alike understand that the word married makes the person off limits, they are not on my A List!
