Fantasia Barrino Walks Out of the Hospital and into a Lawsuit from Paula Cook

Less than 24 hours after being released from the hospital after overdosing on aspirin and sleeping pills singer and actress Fantasia Barrino is still facing a lawsuit filed against her by the soon-to-be ex-wife of Fantasia's boyfriend Antwaun Cook.

Paula Cook, who until this point has only been hinting at the lawsuit against Fantasia who she claims destroyed her marriage to Antwaun, filed the papers in North Carolina for an undisclosed amount of money. The former American Idol winner had no comment when contacted by media outlets such as TMZ and Entertainment Weekly.

Many were worried about Fantasia's mental and physical health after a reported suicide scare August 10th when Barrino was rushed to a North Carolina hospital after being found in a semiconscious state after taking the combination of aspirin and a sleep aid. Her father and Manager Joseph Barrino tried to play down the suicide attempt by saying she became sick after taking the pills while dehydrated.

Both her father and her lawyer Gene Morris to People Magazine Fantasia was doing "remarkably well" after being hospitalized and evaluated by mental heath experts. The suicide attempt came hours after Fantasia learned through the media Paula Cook planned to sue her under an old North Carolina law for making illicit contact with her husband and stealing his affections.

Her claims though contradict reports from Antwaun Cook and other close to the former couple who claim the Cook's separated in early 2009 before Cook started dating Fantasia. In her lawsuit Paula Cook listed Fantasia Barrino as the other woman who broke up her marriage, and that Fantasia and Antwaun had been carrying on a secret affair for 11 months before she learned about the relationship.

Fantasia released a statement through her lawyer shortly before the suicide drama played out that throughout her relationship with Cook she had been under the impression the couple had split up and were in the process of finalizing a divorce. Barrino stated Cook told her he left his wife in the summer of 2009, while Paula Cook claims they only split up two months ago when she learned of the affair.

Sources close to Fantasia are also hinting all of the drama could be a set-up on the part of Paula Cook to try and make money off of Barrino with her new album and tour coming up. Sources also claim someone is shopping around a sex tape reportedly made by Fantasia and Antwaun Cook.

Through all of the drama Fantasia is busy working on promotion for her new album "Back to Me" which is set to be released August 24th.
