Fantasia Wins Grammy for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance

Fantasia Awarded 2011 Grammy for Bittersweet

Many local residents were happy to learn that Fantasia, who is from Charlotte, won a Grammy last night for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance. Nominees for this award included four other popular singers.

Fantasia was awarded the Grammy for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance for the song "Bittersweet". Although Fantasia had been nominated 6 times previously for this award, this is the first time she won.

Fans remember Charlotte's Fantasia for her appearances on American Idol. Fantasia soon became famous. With fame Fantasia also had some life experiences most would hope a person could avoid. At one point attempting suicide in August 2010 according to reports, Fantasia later was quoted as saying "I didn't care about anything. I just wanted out. At that moment I wanted out. I want it to be over with...."

Although Fantasia was not taking care of her health at that time, she has since taken a fresh look at life. After gaining over 25 pounds, Fantasia later lost the weight, regaining a healthy appearance. In order to do this, Fantasia exercised for almost two hours on a daily basis. The diet Fantasia followed a diet of vegetables and fish to get in shape.

Fantasia's manager, Brian Dickens, accepted Fantasia's Grammy for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance. Brian stated Fantasia was working on her role in the Mahalia Jackson story.

Born Fantasia Barrino on June 30, 1984, Fantasia attended school in Charlotte. Fantasia traveled with her parents, Joseph and Diane Barrino and her siblings, performing in different locations throughout the Carolinas. Fantasia currently owns homes in Piper Glen in Charlotte.

The Grammy for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance Fantasia won may be the first of many, as Fantasia continues to gain fans. Others nominated for the Grammy included Faith Evans, Monica, Kelly Price and Jazmine Sullivan. Fantasia has won numerous awards which can be seen by viewing this information on Wikipedia.org.
