Fantasy Baseball 2009: Top 5 Overall Position Battles

Jack Rella
Some spots are going to be really tough to pick. Great players litter the league at every position! But you need to know some of the greats at each, and that's what I'm here for.

#1 Position Battle Overall - First Base - Fantasy Baseball Draft Guide 2009

Why first base? Have you seen the talent? Albert Pujols, Miguel Cabrera, Ryan Howard, Mark Teixeira, and more. Pujols is a fantastic player 37 HR, 117 RBIs, and 104 walks. Cabrera is right up there too with 37 homers and 127 RBIs, but only 56 walks. What a match up!

#2 Position Battle Overall - Third Base - Fantasy Baseball Draft Guide 2009

Alex Rodriguez right? But you probably won't end up with him. That makes this battle important. Instead you have David Wright and, once again, Miguel Cabrera. Cabrera can play third and you can pick up a first basemen like Teixeira, what a decision to make!

#3 Position Battle Overall - Center Field - Fantasy Baseball Draft Guide 2009

Josh Hamilton, 32 home runs. Curtis Granderson - the guy doesn't make errors. He also didn't play as many games but if you remember the season prior, 20+ home runs, triples, two baggers, and stolen bases. It's a tough choice.

#4 Position Battle Overall - Shortstop - Fantasy Baseball Draft Guide 2009

Hanley Ramirez, Jose Reyes, Jimmy Rollins, and of course the perennial MVP shortstop, Derek Jeter.

#5 Position Battle Overall - Right Field- Fantasy Baseball Draft Guide 2009

Ichiro Suzuki or Magglio Ordonez? Well, what about Jermaine Dye and Alex Rios? The list goes on, but if you can snag Mags or Ichiro, you've made a good play.
