Fantasy Baseball AC League Michael Luchies Roster

Michael Luchies
I have never previously participated in a fantasy baseball league with 18 teams. It was a good draft and although my pitching staff is weak, as can be expected with so many teams, my lineup is solid enough to win the league if I can get decent pitching statistics.
Here are the picks:

C- Dioner Navarro- My last position pick in the draft. Navarro showed up to camp in tremendous shape and batted .295 with 54 RBI last season, not bad at the catcher position.

1B- Carlos Pena- Pena is going way too cheap this year. Pena has been drafted around the 112th spot on Yahoo Fantasy, Pena is a great pick if you wait on your 1B position until later in the draft.

2B- Brian Roberts- Roberts was my 3rd pick, 42nd overall. I was happy to get two position players with my first three picks (David Wright and Brian Roberts). In a draft this big, picking up players at tough positions (2B, SS, 3B) is extremely important.

3B- David Wright- Even though I had the 6th overall pick I got my #1 rated player, couldn't be happier with Wright at #3.

SS- Michael Young- Got Young at 78th overall. Young is underrated this year due to his lackluster 2008 performance. He is still one of the premier hitters in the league and a great guy for your SS spot.

LF- Manny Ramirez- I may have reached just a little bit, but I couldn't pass up Manny with my second pick (31 overall).

CF- Chris Young- Young gives a very good mix of power stats and steals, and he may finally have a breakout year. Young fell in my lap at #139 and I couldn't pass him up for my CF spot.

RF- Magglio Ordonez- This was one of my tougher picks due to the Catchers and other position spots on the board. I didn't want to draft another outfielder quite yet, but Magglio at #67 is a steal. Has everyone forgot that he hit .317 with 102 RBI and 21 HR last year?

UTIL- Andre Ethier- By far my best pick in the draft. I got Ethier with the #150 pick in this draft. I didn't need another outfielder but Ethier was way too good to pass up. Ethier hit around .400 when batting 3rd before Manny. Now that Manny is back expect Ethier to have an incredible season.

SP- John Danks- Not exactly an ace, but Danks wins games and I needed a pitcher who could get my 15+ wins in 2009. I picked Danks at #175.

SP- Kevin Slowey

RP- Joakim Soria- Soria is a beast and should account for 40 saves again this year. (pick 103)

RP- Chad Qualls- Qualls is a closer by default this year, but will be the closer in Arizona. (pick 222)

P- Chris Volstad, SP- Volstad is a good pitching pick late in the draft.

P- Hiroki Kuroda, SP- Pick #283, Kuroda needs to have a big season for the Dodgers, and should pick up at least 12 wins and an ERA around 3.7.

P- Aaron Cook, SP- 16 wins in 2008 for the Rockies, anything close to that and I will be happy.

BN- Cameron Maybin, CF
BN- Armando Gallarraga, SP
BN- Taylor Buccholz, RP
BN- Kyle Lohse, SP
BN- Edwin Jackson, SP

Good luck to all the AC Fantasy Baseball teams, cause you're going to need it!
