Fantasy Baseball Draft 2009: Top 5 Minnesota Twins Keepers

Justin Morneau, Joe Nathan and Joe Mauer Lead 2009 Twins Fantasy Draft

Jackson Lewis
Fantasy Baseball Draft Guide. The Minnesota Twins finished one game behind the Chicago White Sox in the AL Central standings in 2008 with a 88-75 record. The team definitely has some players to look at for any fantasy baseball keeper league draft. My top 5 Twins for Keeper Leagues this year are: Justin Morneau, Joe Nathan, Joe Mauer, Delmon Young, and Jason Kubel.

#1 Minnesota Twins Keepers - 1B Justin Morneau- Fantasy Baseball 2009

Justin Morneau had a great 2008 season. He hit .300 with 23 HR's, 129 RBI's and had an OPS of .873. Fairly young at 27, if Morneau is still available in your draft, he's definitely worth picking! Look for him to hit over .300 again in 2009 with 25 HR's, and over 100 RBI's!

#2 Minnesota Twins Keepers - P Joe Nathan- Fantasy Baseball 2009

If you're looking for a strong closer, Joe Nathan is it! Last season he had 39 saves with a 1.33 ERA, WHIP of .90, and 74 strikeouts over 67 innings! Look for him to be below 2.00 on his ERA again and approach 1.5 Stikeouts to IP's with a WHIP around 1.0.

#3 Minnesota Twins Keepers - C Joe Mauer- Fantasy Baseball 2009

Joe Mauer is one of my favorite catches in the AL! He had a phenomenal year in 2008 going .328 with 9 HR's, 85 RBI's with a Ops of .864 while winning the AL Golden Glove for 2008. If he is still available for your 2009 Fantasy Baseball draft, don't let him slip by! Look for his 2009 numbers to be a bit over .300 hitting with 15 HR's, 80 RBI's, and Ops over .800 again!

#4 Minnesota Twins Keepers - OF Delmon Young - Fantasy Baseball 2009

Delmon Young had a very solid 2008 season hitting .290 with 10 HR's, 69 RBI's, and .741 Ops. Look for his average to continue to improve approaching .300 with 15 HR's and 75 RBI's next season!

#5 Minnesota Twins Keepers - DH Jason Kubel- Fantasy Baseball 2009

Jason Kubel also had a very solid season at DH in 2008 hitting .272 with 20 HR's, 78 RBI's and Ops of .805. At 26, he's still young and look for his power numbers to go up a bit in 2009 to 30 HR's and 90 RBI's!
