Fantasy Football 2010: Atlanta Falcons

QB: Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan perhaps took a small step back last year after a huge rookie year. His touchdown numbers were up but perhaps every other stat was down from the previous year. I look for Ryan to come back with a great season this year. I rank him in about the middle of the pack when it comes to fantasy quarterbacks, and that's exactly where you should draft him.

RB: Michael Turner hurt some fantasy owners last year when he couldn't get completely healthy after an ankle injury. Jason Snelling filled in for Turner when he was injured and did a pretty good job, but look for Turner to regain his form this year. Although the Falcons say they want to lessen Turner's workload this year, I expect him still to get nearly all of the carries. He gets a lot of goaline opportunities and has a good o-line to run behind so look for him to be a top 5 running back again this year. He will and should be a first round pick.

WR: Roddy White might have been the only Falcon last year to produce all year. The nice thing about White is that he doesn't get very much recognition. For a guy that has the potential to go for over 10 TD's and over 1000 yards, that's kind of ironic. If you want to take a chance, there's a possibility that he might still be there in the 3rd round. Realistically if you can get White in the 2nd round, that's still a steal. The guys a beast that will put up numbers and be a good #1 receiver for your team.

TE: Last year Tony Gonzalez led all TE's in targets. He gets thrown to often and look for that to continue this year. He's a guy that Matt Ryan knows will get open and catch the ball. I wouldn't call Tony the best TE for fantasy owners, but once the top 3-4 TE's are gone he's your man. There's talk that this is his last year, and all that should mean is he is going to go all in and try to get that ring.

Defense: Atlanta's defense doesn't excite me one bit. It excites me even less when they have to face Drew Brees and the Saints twice a year. There's better options out there for your team.

Sleeper: To be honest the Falcons don't really have to many great choices for a sleeper pick. The one guy I will go with is Harry Douglas. Now I'm not sure he's worth drafting unless you're in a deep league because there is still some concerns around his knee. He will be used a majority in the slot, and is shifty enough to avoid some tacklers. Keep him on your "watch" list and if he starts getting some targets from Ryan, he could be a guy you want to pick up.

The Falcons have some good fantasy options on there team that have already proved that they can put up points. Roddy White should continue his dominance, and Matt Ryan will continue back on the track that had the whole league buzzing. Look for them to challenge for a wild card spot at seasons end.
