Studying average draft position on a weekly basis can give you a true edge during your upcoming fantasy football drafts. Not everyone can keep themselves apprised of every change in a fast paced NFL but savvy fantasy owners can keep tabs on the average draft position of various players to recognize when a major change has occurred. This is especially valuable during the preseason as players get seen in action. When preparing for your fantasy draft, keep this information in mind. Let's review some of the most recent changes and see what they reflect and how they can assist you on draft day. We'll be using stats from Mock Draft Central for our discussion.

Adrian Peterson, Vikings ADP 2.00 - Adrian Peterson has a rising stock finally. For a while people considered Jones-Drew or Ray Rice for the 2nd spot behind Chris Johnson, but fantasy owners know what kind of numbers All Day AP puts out on a regular basis. With Peterson being the only back in town now that Chester Taylor is gone his numbers might even increase.

Michael Turner, FalconsADP 6.25 - The Falcons have shown their colors and vigilant fantasy owners noticed not only how good Turner the Burner looked but how often the Falcons ran the ball. With an effective pass offense to keep defenses from loading the box, Michael Turner is primed to have a breakout year. His increase in average draft position reflects that.

New York Jets Def/ST ADP 101.1 - The New York Jets defense has been overdrafted in every mock draft I've done so far this year. While, yes, they are primed to be the best in the league, defenses are still fairly deep and are rarely worth over-reaching for. They still have a huge contract dispute to settle and prove that they still have what the proved last year.

Randy Moss, Patriots ADP 13.77 - Randy Moss has gotten a deserved increase in the draft rankings after seeing what the Patriots offense has in store this year. Tom Brady is on target and All Day Julian Edelman has proven that he will handle Wes Welker's roll well and keep some of the pressure off of Randy Moss. Combine all this with the fact that Moss is in a contract year and he could be a fantasy football owners dream.

Keep in mind that average draft position will also give you information on how you can expect your opponents to draft. Nothing is perfect on draft day but this can give you a good idea of what sleepers you can expect to pick up where and adjust your draft board accordingly. Taking advantage of every edge you can find during an NFL draft is how you win your fantasy championships. Using these tips as well as the ones provided in my other fantasy football articles will help you dominate your draft and league this year.
