The NFL regular season is right around the corner, you can practically feel the fall in your bones, taste the stadium hotdogs and brats, and see the football jerseys of your favorite quarterback on the backs of everyone in town. While many people long to sit in the stands, some football fanatics like to get more involved and feel like they are a part of an NFL franchise. These football faithful are preparing for the NFL fantasy draft season. While there are no sure fire methods to a great fantasy football team, there are some tips and tricks to live by to draft good players and to get the most out of the players that you actually draft.

The first tip is to do your homework, and yes I know football is supposed to be fun, but researching your player in Fantasy football magazines, reading online NFL fantasy league guides, and talking to your friends about football are hardly work.

While you need to do your homework, realize that you cannot predict the future, especially in football and that no matter how well prepared you are there are going to be some busts on your team, just like any football team. But, the main goal here is to make a calculated estimate, move forward, and tweak your team, and isn't this why you play fantasy football, you always wanted to be an NFL coach.

Specifically, you need to concentrate on your position players, what you know about each position, and what you know about each player. Are there players that get hurt often, did a big name starter go down and an up and coming rookie take his place? Be aware of what you know and be on the lookout for new news. For example you can set up twitter or email alerts surrounding your players to get the most out of your fantasy football season.

Also, keep in mind the scoring system of your fantasy football league. Some leagues are all about the touchdowns, some focus on yards or even average yards per catch. If you do not know what scores the most point in your league you are lost from the start.

Remember that there are many other strategies to improve your NFL fantasy football team. There are fantasy draft depth chart, downloadable fantasy draft software programs, and of course just going with your gut. However you decide to pick your fearsome football team, remember that it is all in good fun, and that it is just a game.
