Fantasy Football (NFL) 2008: Week 13 Sleepers and Keepers Running Backs (RBs)

Erik M. Dell
Week 12 brought some big numbers by usual suspects (Turner, Portis, and Forte). A few other oddballs made the 100+ including Fargas. What's going to happen this week, for many the last regular season week of fantasy football 2008. Here are the locks for week 13.

1) LenDale White - After a reality breakdown in a game that should have been closer the Titans are primed for a big running game against the hapless Detroit Lions. A short week coupled with a poor run defense will put up big numbers for both of Tennessee's running backs, but I like White should get the majority of the goal line carries.

2) DeAngelo Williams - Arguably one of the better backs these past couple of weeks. Williams comes off another dominating performance in a loss against a hungry Atlanta team trying to make the playoffs. Green Bay ranks 28th in run defense and should provide a juicy matchup for yet another 100 yard plus game.

3) Darren McFadden - His toes are finally decent enough for him to run. Crazy that I'm even writing that but then again I've never had turf toe. McFadden came of a decent game where they upset the Broncos. I know there are three running backs in Oakland but I also think the team is committed to getting McFadden opportunities to change the game. Oh yeah and Oakland plays the Chiefs.

4) Thomas Jones - This man cannot be stopped. It doesn't matter what ranked rushing defense you have. He is a touchdown machine and now goes up against Denver. Sparks should fly and both Jones and Washington should have decent games. BTW Jones has 10 touchdowns in the last seven games.

5) Joseph Addai - He has one of the best schedules coming up of all the backs. Here he faces a Cleveland team that is struggling at every touch of the ball. He should put up big numbers as the Colts drag out the game by punishing them with the run and throwing a few passes Addai's way as well.

6) Marshawn Lynch - Finally Lynch is starting to rev up and this week's matchup against the 49ers should show us some good numbers. The Bills are playing in Ralph Wilson stadium so the weather could be a factor. Edwards isn't the best QB so I would expect Lynch to get a decent amount of carries sprinkled with a few short yardage check passes. Overall the numbers should be good.

7) Tim Hightower - This is a gut call but the Philadelphia Eagles looked absolutely horrendous against Baltimore. There is doubt and frustration on the sidelines and my guess is the Eagles are set to implode. I expect Warner and his trusty receiving corps to get ahead early and then pound the ball the rest of the way with some choice goal line carries for Hightower.

8) Michael Turner - He faces a decent San Diego defense but the Charger s like to play a close game. I think this will allow the punishing Turner to get some critical carries and some great touchdown goal line opportunities. This guy is definitely worth the hype. For all you guys playing next year I think you should bump Turner to the top of your list.

9) Maurice Jones-Drew - Good 'ol MJD will put a hurting on Sage and company. Since Schaub has been out the Texans have looked like helpless floundering puppies. The pain won't stop on Monday night as MJD puts up big numbers on the ground and perhaps in the air. BTW he was the leading receiver in the week 12 game on both sides, Go figure...

10) Marion Barber - He had a so-so game week 12. But look for some big numbers against Seattle. Felix Jones is out and Tony Romo is back. Both of these should spell big numbers for Barber who will get back to form in this game. Dallas is fighting for its playoff life and Barber is a big part of that.
