Even in this modern day and age, visiting a farm can still be a cool idea for a school field trip. Check out these farm field trips ideas for teachers and your kids too could have a great school trip.

Suffolk County Farm and Education Center. Suffolk Country farm is based on an actual production farm with field trip ideas designed by Cornell University staff. There is a Farm Tour specifically for elementary grades, Advanced Chicken Embryology, which explores the egg, programs on today's Agricultural Practices and even Marine programs at the Marine Environmental Learning Center. All programs have a minimum number requirement of 10 students and a maximum of 25.

Muscoot Farm Complex. Located in Katonah, New York, this farm is set up so visitors can discover what it was like to be on a 1920s farm. The Blacksmith Shop, the Chicken House and the Carriage House are just some of the places you can see. Hayrides are also available. 1 hour and 15 minutes from the George Washington Bridge.

Queens Country Farm Museum. This 47 acre farm has awesome programs for kids and is actually a working farm. Workshops are also available in beekeeping, colonial cooking, life on the farm and lots more. Throughout the year there are craft fares, children's festivals and even a Halloween festival. Group reservations need to be made at least 8 weeks in advance.

These three farm field trips and more are accessible just an hour or two away from New York City. So city kids can experience country life too.

Upstate NY has great scenery too. Great article. Katonah?... Isn't that where Martha Stewart has her "farm"?

Good article. There's a petting farm up there too and for the life of me I can't remember the name of it but I thought it was a county farm.
