Farm Fresh to You in Capay Valley, California: A Community Supported Agriculture Program
Support Your Local Farm
Farm Fresh To You is one of the best CSAs operating in the San Francisco Bay Area. First I must comment on the customer service and website interface, as they are outstanding. While the website is a bit slow to load, FFTY has recently made the interface extremely easy to use. Members can edit their profiles, delivery addresses, delivery dates, and produce preferences easily online. Online you can view all produce that is delivered by the Farm and add items to your "exclusion list" (for example, I have requested to never receive beets, turnips, cabbage, and some other veggies that I don't particularly like or find useful). You will never receive any items that are on your exclusion list, and this is a dependable fact! You can also view the upcoming delivery several days in advance and email a representative if you want to substitute anything.
The produce that I receive from Farm Fresh To You is outstanding. Everything is delivered in a recyclable box, with no extra plastic bags or weird packaging other than a paper cushion to keep fruits from bruising. I receive the "regular mixed", which means I get 2-3 types of fruits and 7-8 types of vegetables, all of which are organic, fresh, and so delicious! Farm Fresh To You recently started offering a new selection of boxes, including small mixed boxes, vegetables only, fruit only, snack packs, local Capay Valley only boxes, etc. The selection is now really amazing, and you'll be sure to find a box that suits you and your family's needs. Farm Fresh to You also offers office delivery.
Farm Fresh to You delivery is extremely flexible. You can receive a box every week, every other, or every month if you want. There are no specific membership options like other CSAs that require members to purchase an entire season at a time. Farm Fresh to You also will hold your orders if you go on vacation as long as you inform them in advance. They are extremely reliable and easy to coordinate with, so you won't get deliveries when you have asked not to.
Farm Fresh to You prices are a little expensive, but not when you consider the great quality of produce you receive right at your doorstep. The box of produce is delivered right at your door, even if you are in an apartment building, which makes the service incredibly convenient. Boxes range from $22-$44, depending on the size you want. Considering the high cost of living in San Francisco, Farm Fresh to You's prices and convenience is really worth it. The produce is all extremely fresh (picked a day or two before you get it), which is something you don't get when shopping at supermarkets. All of the produce is organic, which is a plus for many of us.
Overall, I highly recommend signing up for Farm Fresh to You. It is an extremely delicious and dependable service, and if you don't like it, there is no penalty for cancelling your membership and no hidden fees! You pay as you go, so go ahead and give it a try!
