Farmer's Market, Located Off Main St., Keene, NH, Feeds and Fulfills Community Appetite
Good Food is a Delicious Way to Enjoy and Support Your Community
New Hampshire, NH 03452
United States of America
The produce available at the market hasn't traveled hundreds of miles. In fact, most of the produce is grown right here in the Monadnock Region and harvested the very morning of the market. The Monadnock Region is a special corner of New Hampshire, sharing boundaries with both Vermont and Massachusetts. The growers who come from the western part of the Monadnock Region benefit from the geography of the Connecticut-Valley, where the internationally renowned Connecticut River winds its way down between the states, eventually dumping into the Long Island Sound.
Other producers, like the freezer lamb vendor, travel from the southern part of the region, where more dramatic topography lends itself to shepherding. The centuries old tradition of sheep farming, that once dominated New Hampshire economy, is now represented by small and family-farms, where lamb is produced and sold directly to quality-conscious consumers. The Farmer's Market of Keene provides a convenient venue for localvores to purchase naturally and locally raised lamb.
The atmosphere at the Farmer's Market of Keene is enhanced by live music and colorful canopies. Vendors arrive early to set-up neat and attractive booths where shoppers can enjoy a leisurely shopping experience. When it comes to quality, freshness, and the fast growing food security issues, the Farmer's Market of Keene is a treasure to the community of the greater Keene area.
The market is held just off of Main Street, Keene, in the Commercial Parking lot, adjacent to Gilbo Ave. There is plenty of free parking for vendors and shoppers. Many folks ride their bikes into town and carry home saddle bags of fresh greens, bread, and meat. If you haven't already made an effort, do give it a try - you'll be rewarded with the best of local products for your family.
