Farmers' Markets in the Daytona Beach, Florida, Area

Farmers' markets are a great place to go to save money on expensive produce. However, not everybody knows about them, what their benefits are, and what they have to offer. First of all, buying produce from a local rather than from a grocery store is better for your health because local farmers' produce most of the time isn't sprayed with harmful chemicals and preservatives so buying local produce is a great way to go green because it's usually completely natural. Some of the local farmers markets here in the Daytona Beach area are world-renowned for their great produce. Below are some tips from me, a Daytona Beach local, on the farmers markets in this area.

1. The Daytona Beach Flea and Farmer's Market. The Daytona Beach Flea and Farmer's Market boasts itself on being one of, if not the, largest flea and farmer's market in the country. It offers hundreds of vendors and even has its own website: www.daytonafleamarket.com. It's open every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Since this is a flea and farmer's market, it not only offers farmer's produce but other varieties of products as well ranging from jewelry and handbags to animal adoptions and motorcycle accessories. In fact, it has been voted one of the top 5 markets in the country by USA Weekend. Plus, all of the produce is much cheaper than you would pay at a grocery store. One of the best venders there is Pells Citrus and Nursery. This farmer is a licensed fruit dealer and offers fresh Florida citrus. He sells fresh oranges, grapefruit, citrus juices, tropical marmalades and jellies, and honeys. In addition, you can buy produce from Pells directly at his own website: www.pellcitrus.com. You can order 5+ cartons of produce there for $23.00. That's how popular and trusted his merchandise is.

2. The Port Orange Flea and Farmer's Market. Port Orange is located right outside of South Daytona, so many Daytona residents go shopping at Port Orange since it's in such close proximity. The Port Orange Flea and Farmer's Market is open every Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. While not as large as the Daytona Beach Flea and Farmer's Market, it still has its range of variety. And although, there aren't always the same farmer's there every single day, all of the farmers' produce is usually of the highest quality and the prices are always cheap.

Those are the two farmer's markets that can be found here in Daytona Beach, Florida. Both of them offer high quality produce and at cheaper prices than grocery stores. Plus, it's healthier for you as well and is more eco-friendly.
