The certified farmer's markets were started in 1978 when the Governor Jerry Brown signed the Direct Marketing Act, allowing farmers in California to sell their products directly to consumers. There are now over 300, including the Santa Monica Organic Farmer's Market. 4. Art District/Little Toyko Farmer's Market
Location: Los Angeles City Hall
When: Thursdays, 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM
The Farmer's Market in Little Tokyo is amazing, with organic produce, flowers, honey, and fresh-made foods such as hummus and Mediterranean. You can also enjoy live music, such as the jazz trio Carl Tassi. When you go, be sure to try plenty of fresh made food and the delicious Californian produce. This farmer's market is sponsored by the Los Angeles River Artists, the Historic Cultural Neighborhood Council, and the Business Association.
