Ferry Plaza Farmers Market
Tuesday- 10am-2pm
Saturday- 8am-2pm
Location: 1 Ferry Bldg. San Francisco, CA 94111
Website: http://www.ferrybuildingmarketplace.com/farmers_market.php
The farmers market outside of the ferry building at the Embarcadero in San Francisco is the largest in the city. The market surrounds the ferry building in all directions. On beautiful days, market goers can sit on the benches at the Embarcadero and watch the boats and birds sail by. Available are both organic and conventionally grown produce, but all market stands should marked appropriately for consumers. The prices are a bit expensive, but not much more expensive than San Francisco's food prices as a whole. This market is packed on weekends, so expect to have to squeeze around market goers to get to the produce stands. As always, bring cash and shopping bags.
Crocker Galleria Farmers Market
Thursday- 11am-3pm
Location: 1 Montgomery Street, San Francisco, CA 94104
Website: http://www.shopatgalleria.com/events.htm
This farmers market is perfect for San Franciscans that work in the financial district of San Francisco. Many residents that work nearby spend their lunch hour walking through the aisles at the Crocker Galleria Farmers Market. Unfortunately, the building is small and so the number of stands are quite limited. Because this farmers market is in the financial district of San Francisco, expect the prices to be high (I'm talking $2.50 per pound of apples). The market tends to lack a lot of organic produce, although there is at least one organic produce stand. The German Bakery pretzels are amazing, so be sure to stop by that stand if you can withstand the line.
Noe Valley Farmers Market
Saturday- 8am-1pm
Location: 3861 24th Street, San Francisco, CA 94114
Website: www.noevalleyfarmersmarket.com
Nestled in little Noe Valley of San Francisco, this farmers market is small but packed. Because it is open on Saturday, many Noe residents will stop by with their children and dogs to check out the fresh produce. Also very expensive, don't expect to get out of the market without spending a lot of cash. While most stands sell conventionally grown produce, there are several that sell organic produce (at extra expense, of course). This is a fun market to walk through on lazy Saturday mornings, especially because there is often live music.
