Farmville Tips - How to Level Up Fast in Farmville

Lindsay Woodland
Farmville is a truly amazing phenomenon - I read recently that more people play Farmville every month than have played Tetris in the entire history of the game! Although you can't believe everything you read, one thing is certain - thanks to Zynga and Facebook, millions of people play Farmville every day. I recently got sucked into Farmville out of sheer curiosity, and now I'm totally addicted. However, Farmville can be a bit discouraging when you first start playing, due to the small size of your farm and the limited variety of crops you can plant in Farmville's early levels. Here are some tips to level up quickly, earn lots of Farmville coins and become a competitive Farmviller as fast as possible!

Farmville Tip #1: Plant Fast-Growing Farmville Crops; Harvest Often

The only way to level up in Farmville is to accumulate experience points, also known as XP. You receive XP each time you harvest a crop or plow a plot. The amount of XP varies from crop to crop, but it's typically just one or two points per plot, which isn't much. However, if you plant crops that mature quickly, you can plant and harvest several times a day, earning XP each time. For instance, Farmville strawberries mature in 4 hours, so you could theoretically plant and harvest them six times a day. That's 12 XP (one for harvesting and one for replowing the plot) per day, per plot. In comparison, if you plant artichokes in Farmville, you get two XP for harvesting them, but they take four days to mature - so you're only earning half of an XP point each day.

Farmville Tip #2: Plant High-Profit Farmville Crops

Farmville crops vary wildly in purchase and sale price - some crops, like raspberries, will net you less than 20 coins each time you harvest; others, like cabbage and broccoli, net over 200 coins for each harvest. Planting the most profitable Farmville crops is a wise strategy, but remember to check the growing times. If a Farmville crop nets 200 coins but takes four days to grow, it's much less profitable than a crop that nets 100 coins but only takes one day to grow. Morning glory and cranberries are two of the more profitable crops in Farmville's early levels, and grapes are an excellent choice when you are a little farther along.

Farmville Tip #3: Attain Farmville Crop Mastery

Each Farmville crop you harvest earns you mastery points, which eventually add up to three levels of crop mastery. Each time you pass a Farmville crop mastery benchmark, you receive an award of coins and XP. Therefore, planting one crop at a time until you have mastered it, especially if it's a profitable crop in terms of XP and coins, is a great way to level up faster. Also, once you have mastered a Farmville crop, any subsequent plantings of that crop have a chance of being "premium" crops, for which you will earn even more XP.

I used to love farmville but got a little tired of tending to the farm. It was taking up too much time. So I have decided to leave my farm without planting anything for a while. Maybe I'll go back and play but for now, I give it a pause.

Man. I'm so unhip when it comes to gaming! Thanks a bunch for this head start tipsheet, though. You're full of (good) surprises, Lindsey! :oD

So good to see you back on AC - even though I'd have preferred another topic. Growing up in a rural area, I can't get into digital agriculture.
