Of Parisian Chic and Isabel Marant
You might not be able to put your finger on it, but you are sure to know it when you see it. Isabel Marant's website showcases some of her creations and the loose fitting dresses that bounce with each step, low riding pants and the obvious femininity that is cleverly offset with minimalist - almost intentionally devoid of formfitting curves - jackets and other outerwear.
W Magazine captured the essence of her personality during its own fashion review, and it is obvious that Isabel Marant designs clothes the way she lives: with a devil-may-care attitude and an unerring gut feel for what is cool and what is pretentious. It is the ability to walk this fine line without capsizing that has won her Parisian chic the affection of fashion models and those, who prize minimalist clothes that nonetheless ooze understated elegance and cool.
Can You Swing Parisian Chic a la Isabel Marant?
If you have a thin figure and long legs, you are halfway there. Unlike other fashion designers that make jackets, shoes, dresses and accessories at stiff prices, Isabel Marant's Parisian chic is almost affordable. Pants might go for about $300 while a jacket could set you back about $1,325.
Of course, finding her clothes might be a bit harder to do. You could visit Shop Heist, but you need to send an email to receive information about the kind of clothes that are available and their prices. You could also check out Far Fetch, where you might be able to find a little black dress with gathered neck for about $320. Another option is Yoox; the site features odds and ends of Isabel Marant fashion design, in this case red, straight leg pants that retail for $140. Diani Boutique might also be able to help you out, if you call in and inquire about items and costs.
Granted, this is the piece meal approach to getting the Parisian chic into your closet, but even NBC New York commented that it is getting rather hard to find Isabel Marant clothes on the 'Net. Speculation suggests that the designer is thinking of opening her very own boutique in the U.S. later on in the year, and is working on minimizing other online outlets for her couture.
