Try to wear different colored tops and bottoms. This look will break up the height. Instead of wearing a dress that's one color, buy skirts and match them with different tops. Not only will this make you look 'not so vertical,' but you'll end up having many options and feel like you have a bigger wardrobe!
Look for pants with a higher waist and wide legs. Stay away from jeans that are skinny by the ankle. Boot legged, wide leg and flare jeans and pants are best for tall women. I like to buy my pants at Maurices. Not only do they have a wide variety of options for pants and jeans for tall women, they feel great when wearing, last a long time and are decently priced at $30-$40 a pair. Levi also has a great selection of jeans priced between $40 - $50 that are ideal for the tall woman.
If your arms are long, consider layering! You can create some really interesting looks by layering your shirts. You can also buy some shirts that are already layered if you're confused on how to do this. Or, purchase a nice collared shirt with cuffed sleeves and wear a light sweater over it for a very professional look.
Another thing I like to do is wear long undershirts with tank tops or skinny straps underneath my t-shirts. This looks great with jeans. It breaks up the two sections of your body as well as make you look thinner! You also don't have to worry about your shirt showing your belly if you lift your arms. Many of these tanks are very light and won't be too hot for you to wear in the summer. I even layer two tank tops over each other. It creates a much more interesting look.
If you're tall, you should avoid having short hair. Full, curly or wavy shoulder length or longer hair is best suited for tall the tall woman. Try not to wear buns, ponytails or any hairstyle that would use gel to slick back. Longer hair styles take the attention away from your height. If you like to wear your hair up, wear up-dos that are full or leave some pieces cascading down the sides of your face.
