Fast, Easy, DIY Halloween Costumes for Kids

Kids Halloween costumes can be expensive. They are only able to be used once, as children grow so fast and are likely not able to fit into the Halloween costume the following year. Also, you don't want to spend a lot of time or money on a costume your child is only going to wear for a couple of hours. These easy DIY Halloween costumes for kids are quick, easy, and don't require any sewing. Often you can just look for items around the house to make costumes, but a couple of cheap dollar store items may be needed.

Railroad Engineer costume, Train Conductor , Cowboy, Cowgirl, and Scarecrow costumes

This is a super easy kids costume to put together. Overalls, a shirt, a conductor hat, and you are all set. Quick, easy, cute costume for small children who don't like a lot of things on their face. To make the costume more authentic, try to find some pinstripe overalls, tuck a handkerchief in their back pocket, and have your child carry around a model train to complete the look. For a Casey Jones costume, simply paint a scull face. Similarly, the same overalls and shirt, can be used for a cowboy costume with some cowboy boots, a cowboy hat, and a bandana loosely tied around the child's neck (be careful for strangulation hazards). A scarecrow costume uses the same overalls, and handkerchief, and cowboy hat. This time, staple or glue some fringed felt or construction paper under the hat, coming out of the neck, arm and feet holes. Fairy Costume, Ballerina, and Princess costume

This is such an easy costume, especially if your child has some dress up clothes already. All these Halloween costumes use the same basic outfit with some variations. A leotard, tights, make-up, glitter, and ballerina shoes make up the ballerina. For the fairy, use the same outfit, and put some wings on the back. These can be found very inexpensively. Use the same outfit, minus the wings, take a dollar store crown and a long piece of fabric or skirt for the dress, and you have a princess. Another very cheap way to make a princess costume is to look in second-hand stores for flower girl dresses. Often they are very fancy and a very reasonable price. You can use a few other inexpensive accessories to create a Cinderella costume, a Barbie Ballerina, or other Disney princess costumes.

Mime, Cat costume, Dog, Ninja, and Vampire Costume

What these costumes have in common is that the main part of the costume is wearing all black. Wearing all black, with white make-up and white gloves, and you have an easy. DIY mime Halloween costume. For a cat and dog, some ears, a tail, gloves for paws, and appropriate face make-up, you have a dog costume and a cat costume for little effort, time, and money. The ninja is simple. Take some black fabric, perhaps an old t-shirt cut, and wrap it around your child's face. Be careful not to obstruct their breathing! Ninja costumes are best for other children. That, and a pretend sword, and they will be all set for their easy Halloween costume. The vampire costume worthy of Dracula uses the same all black outfit. Some pale make-up, cheap fangs with fake blood drops at the sides of their mouth, a piece of fabric for a cape and you are set.
