Fast Five

The peoples choice in movie news and reviews, reviews the 5Th installment of The Fast and Furious franchise, Fast Five. I was wondering when this movie and Thor both opened a week ago in Australia how this movie bested Thor at the box office? well tonight I found out.

In the theater that I attend to watch the movies I review they had numerous play times for this movie, I attended the 10pm show. The theater was packed, usually I try and get a seat at the very bottom of the auditorium so I can have my personal space not tonight, and there were two other shows after the 10pm show, one at 10:30pm and another one at 11:00pm.

I have to admit this is the first Fast and Furious movie I have ever watched in a movie theater, all the others I watched on cable. But I have to admit, it was worth it.

Let me tell you a little about the movie, the movie opens with the Vin Diesel character being taken to jail on a bus when we see some fast cars pull up causing the bus to crash and as we later hear on the news everyone was accounted for except Dom the Vin Diesel character.

We later see some of the other characters from the previous films Dom's sister and her ex cop boyfriend meet up with another of the original characters to plan a heist to steal some cars from a train, Dom's sister gets away with a car but there are some people that want the car she has stolen so they start shooting and kill some DEA agents that are on the train and naturally Dom's people get blamed for the killings.

The movie takes place in Rio and the big man that is in charge of everything in Rio happens to be a drug smuggler and what was in the car that Dom's sister stole was a chip showing where his drug houses are and schedules.

The Rock Dwayne Johnson is an FBI agent that has been put on the case to find the escaped Dom. When Dom gets together with his sister and her boyfriend they plan a heist to rob the Big man in Rio, but to succeed they need a team so they recruit members from the past films.

What follows is action, car chases and everything you come to expect from the Fast and Furious franchise. This movie is the best of the five, yes it seems in some ways the things they needed to rob the Rio king pin they got easily and I know some of the other critics will have something to say about this but I write about entertainment value and this film will entertain you.

Why the Vin Diesel character Dom is so like able is put aside the fact he is a hero/villain, he has always been in this series a character with heart and treasures one of Gods greatest gift to us, family.

I must admit I did not want the team to get the money from the Rio king pin because I would like to see these characters get back together for another movie, which it looks like just might happen.

I know when the smoke clears this weekend this movie will be the #1 movie here in the states, it will be interesting to see if it will be again when Thor is released next week.

I think it will be, people are familiar with the Fast and Furious franchise and when word of mouth gets out, more and more people will want to see it. In my humble opinion I think it will best Thor next week here in the states as it did in Australia.

Don't listen to other critic/movie reviewers if they tell you to pass on this movie... Go see it...
