The University of Georgia, in Athens, Georgia has in place three substantial merit-based scholarships that reward the brightest and hardest working high school seniors in the country.
Most merit and academic scholarships at the University of Georgia are for first year students and are awarded during the application process. First year students must submit admission applications by December 15 of each year to receive priority consideration for scholarships. However, to apply for these top scholarships, scholarship applications must be postmarked on or before the November 15 deadline.

These are academic scholarships. Other program scholarships in specific areas, such as athletics or the arts can be obtained through each individual department.
Here is a rundown of each of the top three and what you need to know.
Foundation Fellowship
In order for consideration for this top-notch scholarship, you must also apply for the Bernard Ramsey Honors Scholarship, which is detailed below. Campus interviews will be held.
How many are given? 18 -- 22 are given each year.
What are the minimum SAT and ACT scores? 1400 minimum on the SAT, 31 on the ACT.
What is the minimum GPA? 3.75 (unweighted).
What else is needed to qualify? Strong evidence of leadership and community involvement is required. A strong resume of school accomplishments and leadership roles is recommended.
How much is the award? A $9,000 per year stipend is awarded plus the HOPE scholarship, which in itself pays for tuition and some fees. For out of state winners, a $15,700 per year stipend is awarded.
What if you reside out of state? If you reside out of the state, the Georgia Board of Regents waives the out-of --state tuition if you are awarded one of these academic scholarships.
Note that this is a renewable scholarship over four years, and will be received each year if college grade point averages are maintained.
Bernard Ramsey Honors Scholarship
In order for consideration for this top-notch scholarship, you must also apply for the Foundation Fellowship Scholarship, which is detailed above. Campus interviews will be held.
How many are given? 35 -- 40 are awarded each year.

How much is the award? A $4,500 per year stipend is awarded plus the HOPE scholarship, which in itself pays for tuition and some fees. For out of state winners, a $7,700 per year stipend is awarded.
What if you reside out of state? If you reside out of the state, the Georgia Board of Regents waives the out-of --state tuition if you are awarded one of these academic scholarships.

Presidential Scholarship
How many are given? 45 -- 50 are awarded each year.
What are the minimum SAT and ACT scores? This varies. A strong academic career in high school is necessary.
What is the minimum GPA? This varies. A strong academic career in high school is necessary.
What else is needed to qualify? Strong evidence of leadership and community involvement is required. A strong resume of school accomplishments and leadership roles is recommended.
How much is the award? A $3,000 per year stipend is awarded for both in-state and out-of state winners. In-state winners also receive the HOPE scholarship, which in itself pays for full tuition and some fees.
What if you reside out of state? If you reside out of the state, the Georgia Board of Regents waives the out-of --state tuition if you are awarded one of these academic scholarships.
Note that this is a renewable scholarship over four years, and will be received each year if college grade point averages are maintained.
