Fat Cat Joe and I

jocelyn brady
I sat and dined alone

On my back porch last night,

Fat cap on my lap is listening

To my conversation with the moonlight

Plate's still full, coffee's empty

Guess I have no appetite

Mr. Moon, I ask, in my hesitation

To be right,

Am I too restless, am I too selfish,

Have I been looking for a fight?

Cause all this time that I've been

Sharing secrets with the moonlight

I've been contemplating the ways

In which I might

Take fat cat and disappear

Into another new life

Fat cat Joe and I both knowIt's sometimes better being alone
