Fat Dawg's Roadside Saloon is located at 121 E. Hwy. 80 in Forney, Texas. This place is known as the best dive bar in the area, and that is mostly a compliment. They serve hot dogs, hamburgers and the typical American food menu. The food is o.k. but maybe a little overpriced for what you get. I don't think they really intended this to be a fine dining establishment, it was created to be a fun bar where you can get food if you just have to eat.

I have been to Fat Dawg's a few times since it opened about a year ago. It has the typical smokey bar atmosphere and the customers seem to be folks just looking to drink a few cold beers and have a good time. If you show up on a Friday or Saturday night you will notice one common sight in the parking lot, a lot of motorcycles. Fat Dawg's is definitely a place the motorcycle enthusiasts like to hang out, but they are there for fun, not trouble. Fat Dawg's loves the bikers so much that they have the occasional "Bikini Bike Wash" outside the business. If you like motorcycles or bikini's, this is the event for you! They are also very helpful if you decide to host a birthday party at the bar. In fact, they will decorate free of charge for you. You can't beat that, free decorations and a load of fun.

Like many bars, Fat Dawg's has a newer juke box with all types of music. I'm the type of person that will slide in a couple of dollars to play some rock music when all I hear coming out of the juke box is country music. Country music is fine, but sometimes you just have to rebel and play a little rock-n-roll. Fat Dawg's also has 2 pool tables, darts and a new outside patio that is already becoming the popular spot.

Fat Dawg's Roadside Saloon is open 7 days a week and it's Monday-Friday hours are 11 A.M. to Midnight. On Saturday night's you can stay until 1 A.M. Monday-Friday they have "Happy Hour" from 2-6 P.M. where you can get great deals on mixed drinks and beer. I like Thursday nights because that is ladies nights with cheap margaritas. They have dollar beer nights at least once a week and a "Sunday's Funday" event that produces $2 domestic beers all day long. Ask the bartender about the big drink spinning wheel behind the bar, it may turn out well for you.

Friday nights are usually a packed crowd, and don't be surprised if you spot someone dancing on the bar. Friday night's from 9 P.M. to Midnight they have the karaoke cranking. Don't be shy, get up there and belt one out, you probably won't be worse than anyone else singing. Saturday night's at Fat Dawg's from 9 P.M. to closing time they have a live DJ who plays top 40, country, pop, you name it, he plays it. And for you more adventurous types, later in the evening they have a pole dancing contest. Come on guys, get up there and show us your best moves!

All in all, Fat Dawg's Roadside Saloon may be a dive bar, but it is packed full of great people and a chance to let your hair down and have a good time. If you're driving down Hwy. 80 in Forney, Texas, stop at Fat Dawg's and see it for yourself. You may intend to stop in for 5 minutes, and wind up leaving 5 hours later. If you have a motorcycle, bring it and show it off! If you have any questions, you can call Fat Dawg's Roadside Saloon at 972-552-2700.

They no longer serve food here, unless you want Hot Pockets. Fired the cook and have never replaced him.

Love the name! Dive bars are pretty popular around here, and they're always a lot of fun.
