I won't be making it to Mardi Gras. Here in the Keys we have our own version only it is held on Halloween weekend not fat Tuesday. The Keys version is called Fantasy Fest. I has all the makings of the New Orleans tradition only in a smaller venue.
Just because I'm not doesn't mean you shouldn't be heading down to New Orleans to do some serious partying. Just like the Keys, New Orleans' economy counts on tourism. If you have been concerned with the plight of the hurricane survivors now is you chance to do your part to get things back too normal. Pack up your party clothes and head to Bourbon Street!
There is just something refreshing about some good old fashion wholesome drunken debauchery that makes for a good time. Partially clad young lovelies of all ages at their partying best. With rivers of adult refreshments to be consumed. It's a tough job but someone has to do it!
Don't get this party attitude wrong! Fat Tuesday is the day before Lent meaning a whole bunch of people will be swearing off their favorite vice for forty long days. A little Wednesday morning hangover just serves to reinforce the Lent vows for most.
New Orleans and Key West share a common bond this year. Following Katrina that dampened last year's Mardi Gras and Wilma that postponed the 2005 Fantasy Fest, both cities are looking to get things back to normal. It is up to you guys that will help make it that happen. If you can dig yourself out of that snow that you where complaining about not having a few weeks ago, get your butt down south for some good times. Don't forget to pack your party attitude and plenty of film.
The 2006 Fantasy Fest showed Key West was back to it's old form and moving on. Now it is New Orleans' time to shine! Help New Orleans celebrate Fat Tuesday. After Mardi Gras you will have seven months to recover before your trip to Fantasy Fest. Y'all have fun now, hear.

Great Photo! Did you shoot this photo yourself? I'm not talking about the sexual side of the photo, but the quality of the photo.
Great article. I wish I could go, but it's not to be this year.
I'm not sure I'd ever feel comforable is such a wild crazy crowd now that I'm older so it's not on my to do list but if I could have gotten there somehow when I was younger I would have partied like crazy lol. Thanks for the info! I agree, if you want to and can get down there, the ecomony there really needs YOU.
