Fate, Destiny, and Why it is Better to Leave it in Gods Hands

Up Until Recently I Too Lived This Way, I Spent Most of My Time Trying to Make Things Go the Way I Wanted Them To

Life is an amazing journey full of surprises. Yet, it seems sometimes no matter how hard we try, things don't turn out like we plan. Some people spend their whole lives trying to control every aspect of their existence; and find that they are getting nowhere. I'm willing to bet you know someone like this. Always anxious or mad at the world because they have not gotten what they think they deserve. These people I like to think of as mice. They seem to be always living in some tiny little world that they have created. They never seem able to see past their own noses. The problem with living this way is the inability to see the big picture, and therefore, what lies around the corner.

Up until recently I too lived this way. I spent most of my time trying to make things go the way I wanted them to. I was married with children for five years, and although I wasn't truly happy, I figured this was the person I was meant to be with. However, I later found out that God had different plans. Shortly after my youngest son was born my marriage fell apart. We realized, my wife and me, that we were two different people, with many different goals; and separated.

For a short while I was somewhat disenchanted with God. However, once I was able to see the big picture I better understood the plan that God had for me. Now don't get me wrong, I don't pretend to understand Gods plan. But now I have a better understanding of the way God works. If things didn't work out exactly as they did, I wouldn't be where I am today. And now, because of the way things worked out, I am a much, much happier person. I have my sons who I love dearly, a source of income, I am able to help out my family, and I have met the most amazing woman I could imagine.

Not only have all these wonderful things happened for me, but without the negative experiences I have gone through, I wouldn't have the deep appreciation that I now have for the gifts God has seen fit to give to me. So although we might not understand why certain things happen, or don't happen, in our lives, God does have a plan, and rest assured it's for our benefit if things don't work out like we think they should. Life is an exercise in learning patience and acceptance. If you can learn to truly be accepting and patient, then you will be a much happier person for it.
