Cutting down the amount of fat intake in your diet can be achieved in many ways. One way a lot of people forget about is altering their methods of cooking. Yes, you can cut down fat by using fat-free cooking methods that are actually pretty simple.

Good cookware = less grease

By using a nice quality set of cookware, you can easily reduce the amount of fat you need to cook your food with. Invest in non-stick pans so that you wont have to use tons of butter to keep your meat from sticking to the pan. Heavy pans are good to use as well because they are sturdy and will last you a long time. If you notice that your cookware is getting a little dated, you might want to buy a new set. It will definitely be worth it.

Drain first

Let's say that you are having taco night at your home and you have decided to brown some ground beef. The proper method of browning would be what you would call a dry-fry in a non-stick pan. Crumble the meat up constantly until it all turns a nice brown color. After it has finished, it is important to drain out all of the fat that was released from the meat while cooking. If you want to take it a step further, pour the meat into a colander and rinse it off with water. This really removes the excess fat and gives you a healthier portion of meat to work with.

No butter for baking

Again, when it comes to baking, using baking dishes of good quality will make it easier to avoid using tons of butter or oil to create a non-stick surface. This may eliminate the need for grease altogether or make it possible to only have to use a very small amount. Also, instead of baking chicken or fish with lots of butter, you can wrap the pieces up with any herbs or marinade in sealed aluminum foil. This will keep the moisture locked in tight along with all of the amazing flavor.

Steam instead

What is one of the easiest ways to start cooking fat-free foods? Steaming and boiling is the answer to that question. You can steam pretty much anything from broccoli to chicken. In addition to steaming and boiling, other cooking methods such as poaching, braising, and sautéing are great for cutting back the fat.

Cooking in a fat-free way is super simple and still allows you to have great flavor in your meals. You end up feeling light, fresh and not overstuffed and heavy. If you are dieting or just trying to live a healthier life, remembering to use fat-free cooking methods are essential in achieving your goals.
