Father of Murdered Tampa Teens Warns Public About Donation Scams

Jeffrey Weeks
The father of the two teenagers slain by their mother in Tampa is warning the public about fake memorial sites seeking donations on behalf of his deceased children.

Parker Schenecker said in a statement that neither he nor his family had set up any memorial webpages or charity funds to receive financial contributions even though some have appeared.

Schenecker said in the statement that any website asking for such donations is "unauthorized, misleading, and merely an attempt to exploit this tragedy and deepen the sorrow of a community trying to heal."

The two teens, 16-year old daughter Calyz and 13-year-old son Beau, were shot and killed by their 50-year old mother Julie Schenecker in a horrific homicide that has shocked residents of the gated Ashington Reserve subdivision in New Tampa. Schenecker has confessed the crime to police.

Parker Schenecker is a US Army Intelligence colonel and was stationed in Qatar at the time. Julie Shenecker is currently being held on two counts of first degree murder.
