Father Speaking: Listen to Me Son

Jenny Heart
A poem written by a father to his son.

Son I want you to be happy.

I want you to grow up big and strong..

I want you beside me.

Listen to me son

First I looked at your face with awe and adoration

Your face is always with me from day until nightfall.

My heart has to protect you ahead of time.

It wants to protect you from the slightest of falls.

Life will throw you dirty balls at times

Remember! I will be there to wipe away all your tears when

those balls fly right past you and land in the mud.

I will protect you from the storms of your life the best that I can.

I will help you rise again if you fall and scrape a knee.

I will help you climb a tree with my hand always close by.

until you can do it on your own without fear.

My son I love you now and forever.

Never be afraid for God knew what he was doing

He knew I would protect you

Now, forever and always

This world is waiting for you to have and to hold

All the pleasure I can assure for you.

Making sure your sandbox is always filled

Your favorite stuffed toy always curled up beside you.

I promise you laughter each and every day.

I promise to walk with you to your first day of school

I promise you smiling faces and hugs and kisses each night.

You are my love, my life.

I promise!

We need more men to step up and be fathers instead of just sperm donors. There is a difference!
