Father's Day Celebration at the Zoo
Take dad to the zoo on Father's Day and he'll enjoy free admission (when he attends with a paid child). Children are only $12, and kids under 24 months are free. Parking is also free, so you can enjoy a fun family day without spending a fortune. Enjoy the beautiful June weather as you view all of the animals together to celebrate Father's Day in Pittsburgh.
Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum
If dad is a sports fan, then he'll love spending a day at the Western PA Sports Museum. This museum is a part of the Senator John Heinz History Center and celebrates amateur and professional athletes from Western Pennsylvania. Exhibits focus on racing, golf, baseball, football and hockey. There's even a theater where you can immerse yourself in a multi-media display of some of the greatest sports moments in history. And with over 70 interactive and hands-on exhibits, dad and the kids can play together all day. Admission is reasonable: $10 for adults, $9 for seniors ages 62 and over, $5 for students and children, and children ages 3 and under are free. Tickets include entrance to the Sports Museum, History Center, Fort Pitt Museum and the Library & Archives.
Activities
Laurel Highlands Bluegrass Festival
If dad loves camping and music, then the Bluegrass Festival is a perfect way to celebrate Father's Day weekend in the Pittsburgh area. Tickets are only $25 in advance, and kids ten and under are free. You can either camp at the festival or come for the day. Listen to lots of music all day long, join in on great food, browse the many vendors and have a great time hanging out at the festival grounds together.
Duquesne Incline
Enjoy some time outdoors with dad by visiting Mount Washington, which boasts an amazing view of Pittsburgh from the top. You can drive up the mountain to visit Emerald View Park and take in the beautiful views, but a more fun way to experience Mount Washington is by taking a ride on the Duquesne Incline. This cable car goes straight up the side of the mountain; the ride is a lot of fun and very scenic, perfect for a Sunday afternoon with dad for Father's Day. Pack a picnic and enjoy a scenic lunch or dinner at the top. The fares are very reasonable as well: $4.50 round trip for adults, $2.20 round trip for children ages 6 to 11 and children under 5, seniors 65 and over and local college students all ride for free.
Lowe's Build & Grow Clinics
If dad is handy, why not send him with the kids to one of Lowe's free kids' builder workshops? The building activities are new each month, take place on select Saturdays at 10am and are completely free. Dad and the kids can work on a special project together and take home something that they've built themselves.

Pasta Lorenzo
If you want to share a relaxing and delicious family meal, then look no further than Pasta Lorenzo restaurant in Uniontown, PA. Whether you love pasta, wood fire pizza, sandwiches or hearty dinner platters, Pasta Lorenzo has something for everyone. If dad loves the outdoors, especially cycling around Pittsburgh's many parks and trails, then the OTB Bicycle Café is the perfect place to take him to eat for Father's Day. Located on East Carson Street, just one block from the South Side Works Trailhead, this bicycle-themed restaurant serves up delicious food and is the perfect pit stop after an outdoor adventure. Best of all, every Sunday kids eat free with the purchase of an adult entrée. So have some fun with dad at this cool café for Father's Day and enjoy some special time together.
Eat'n Park
Treat dad to a fun meal on Father's Day at Eat'n Park, a Pittsburgh institution. There are 25 locations to choose from, so you're sure to find one close to your neighborhood. The whole family can share an economical meal, since kids ages six to ten eat for half price and kids five and under eat the breakfast and fruit bar or soup and salad buffet for free with an adult purchase when you dine in. Enjoy some family time together as you share a meal that dad doesn't have to grill himself.
