This a fun project is made out of real Golf Tees. Be sure to use the real wood Golf Tee on this simple project to add a substantial and expensive look to your wood frames.
These Golf Tee themed creations can be used to decorate the fireplace mantel or even the buffet in your dining game room. Simple and colorful Golf Tees makes this craft project fun and easy for anyone!
To make this simple Golf Tee picture frame for Father's Day kids will need:
Golf Tees
1 inexpensive wood picture frame
Hot glue
Primer
Paint
Paint Brushes
Sand Paper
Photograph of the kids
I find great little wooden picture frames at the dollar store, flea markets, yard sales, and even Wal Mart. They are super cheap and perfect to turn into this simple Golf Tee Father's Day frame craft project.
So, the first thing I like to do is lightly sand the picture frame. Make sure you take the back off and the glass out.
Wipe off any dust.
Paint on a layer of primer.
Now, once that has dried go ahead and paint your picture frame in any color you like. I recommend a nice grass green color. It will remind Dad of the golf course! Not that he needs any reminding.
The whole reason to paint this frame is that you can see it behind the Golf Tees, so you want it to pop. I like to paint the frame in milk paint to keep it matte and matching the wood Golf Tees.
Once the paint had dried you can start to glue on your Golf Tees.
Try playing around with a pattern before you glue the golf tees on. You can face ever other one the opposite direction so they fit closely together.
For a pulled together look try gluing all white or yellow Golf Tees onto the frame. You can run a bead of hot glue along the frame and start pushing the back of the Golf Tees into the glue.
Don't forget to cover the sides of the frame with Golf Tees as well.
Now, if you used all white Golf Tees you should glue on a fun little ribbon on the top middle of the picture frame. Look for a golf themed ribbons.
For a fun and funky look you could use all different colors of Golf Tees to cover the entire Father's Day picture frame. Glue on a fun little colorful ribbon and put a picture of the kids in there.
To really preserve this simple Golf Tee frame let the Golf Tee s and glue dry completely for about 1 day. Then spray on a coat of clear acrylic spray paint. Then glue on the ribbon or bow.
Golf Tees are also a great size for really small picture frames because they can make a thin frame look more substantial. Be sure to use a really strong glue, like epoxy glue, if you use a thin or small frame! Hot glue may not hold the Golf Tees in place if the frame is going to be picked up a lot. Epoxy or clear plastic glue will do the trick though!
