Father's Day for the Geeky Dad

Christian K. Martinez
Finding it tricky to come up with something to do for Father's Day? Maybe your dad is a little bit of a geek? Here are a few tips, ideas of things to do if you want to celebrate father's day with a little bit of a "geeky" twist. Whatever geeky means to you, and your dad, is entirely up to you. But here's a few ideas you might find helpful.

Pick a Con, Any Con
Tickets to something like Gen-Con (If your'e into tabletop gaming that is) would make a great Father's day present for a gamer-dad. While not taking place during the day itself, it's a great gift and quality time you could spend with the old man. An upside to this is that almost every "geekdom" known to man has some sort of conference at least once a year. Which makes this a rare, and pleasantly customizable, gift for father's day.

Museums
Not everyone's cup of tea, and not every geek's either. Museums of any flavor can appeal to many though, and many "geeks" I've known have, including myself, absolutely love them. This isn't an option for everyone, not every town or city has a good museum to visit. But instead of a museum you could always go to any other local attraction. Again whether your dad is geeky or not the key is making him happy!

Gaming
If your dad is a gamer, then it might just be some fun to join in on Father's Day. This doesn't extend to just gaming, but partaking in any hobby along with your dad. As long as you can bear it, or preferably enjoy it, for at least a few hours and are a good and eager sport the fact that your even trying should mean a lot.

Movie-Fest
Sitting down with a few good flicks, or your newest series, some popcorn and pizza can be a great way to spend your Father's Day. Whether your/his vice is Lord of the Rings, Star Trek or Star Wars doesn't matter. Anything that you can put in and both have a great time watching will work wonderfully. This is also a great way to go if you don't share all the same hobbies with your father but want to do something that's relatively cheap yet not generic.
