1. dinner at a restaurant
2. prepared dinner at home - this is sweet especially if your not the one who cooks everyday
3. greeting card - if you can't afford anything else, your husband or dad will appreciate this more, because he is more concerned about you and your finances than what you will give him.

Dads Who Have Everything
Time - There's a big possibility that a dad who has everything was able to accumulate it at the expense of his loved ones. Spend time with this type of dad. Make him breath fresh air and let him slow down a bit, not during a workday though :)
Your husband or dad may be a combination of the traits that I have mentioned.
But every husband must have this:
Book -- Power of a Praying Husband ($10.39)
http://astore.amazon.com/noegal-20
I got a copy of this book and I became more aware of the differences between a husband and wife. By understanding the situations that happen to ones marriage, a husband can properly address it and manage his home more effectively. This is a very nice gift for him on Father's Day.
and evey dad or husband needs these:
1. Understanding Wife
2. Appreciation
Without these two (for married dads), all the gifts above would just be a waste of time and money. But these two are FREE gifts that mean a lot to a father or husband.
This one doesn't include men who are polygamous though, because I believe before they are entitled to any of these, they have to give respect to women first. And before they could do that, they have to acknowledge that they are in need of something that they may not know of, and the only one who could give them the answer is God. For this type of dad, I suggest that he get a bible first and commit his life to Jesus Christ.
[For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. - John 3:16]
[But first be concerned about God's kingdom and his righteousness, and all of these things will be provided for you as well. - Matthew 6:33]
Going back... How do you give the first 2 needs?
If you are a wife, submit to his decisions. You may have different views, but at the end of the day, whether he is right or wrong, it will greatly encourage him if he knows that whatever happens, you will be there to support him, and not nag him everytime he makes a mistake. You might say, "but I've done this before". It's like money in the bank. Whenever you deposit love, affection and understanding, your interest grows. Whenever you nag or show him that he is wrong, you shouldn't count your deposit anymore because you've already withdrewn all of it.
I'm blessed with a supportive wife. It was never a smooth ride, but we are making progress... because we both give eachother the first 2 needs.
I hope I was able to give you some helpful tips about what to give your husband/dad during on Father's Day

Ah... But the understanding wife still needs an understanding husband ... blah, blah, blah... or, it will only be the divorced wife (and court system) who decides all further aspects of the children's lives.
