Father's Day Gift Ideas for Golfer Dad

Kathi Downs
Father's Day is coming soon, and what better way to say "Thanks" to that special man in your life who loves to golf, than with a gift that supports his sport.

I am married to a man who loves to golf almost as much as he likes to eat, and two of our sons picked up the love of golf as well. When Father's Day comes around each year, I have so much fun buying them all the necessary little things that every golfer always needs. The really great thing about these gifts is, they don't cost a lot of money. Here is a list of some golf gift ideas that I use when buying for some of the special dads in my life.

1. A golf journal
Believe it or not, golfers like to keep track of the games they play, and their scores. Also, if they golf at a lot of different courses, it help them to keep track of things to watch for. It really is quite handy to have. My husband always used a small spiral notebook, and kept it in his golf bag. He really likes the golf journal that I bought him last year, and I will get him another this year for Father's Day. You can get one online at www.oliveoyls.com/store/golf.html. They are on sale right now for $3.99 for Father's Day.

2. Golf Tees
Every golfer needs plenty of tees. They usually get shattered or split when tee-ing off. You can usually get a fairly large package of tees for about $10.00 to $15,00, but if you want to get some unusual ones, try getting some Trivia Tees. I got my husband a box of them last year, and he told me that he can't help but read one every time he tees off. You can get them online at www.golfteetrivia.com/. There is approximately 115 tees for $19.95.

3. Bag Tag
All golfers have a bag tag. It identifies their bag from the other golfers bags. You can get one that is personalized, or one that says just about anything that you want. These bag tags are usually about $10.00, and you can get one at just about any store that sells golf equipment.

4. Golf Balls
Golf balls is another item that all golfers need. After all, without the ball, there is no game. It seems every year for Father's Day the golfers in my life need a new supply of balls. I usually shop around some for these because I have three to buy for, but I know that you can get these at Walmart, or any other store that sells golf equipment. A box of 24 Callaway balls usually runs about $15.00.

5. Golf Towel
A golf towel isn't so much a necessity as it is, a nice thing to have. It helps to keep the moisture off the hands, and also helps to keep the ball clean. A golf towel can be bought almost anyplace that sells golf equipment, and they usually cost about $10.00 to $15.00. You can also use a regular hand towel and put a tie on one corner so that it can be attached to the golf bag.

6. Headcovers
I usually call these cozies. These keep the heads covered, and protected. It is especially important for the 'woods.'

7. Golf Clubs
If the man in your life needs a new set of golf clubs for Father's Day, you might consider getting a gift certificate for them. You can get a set of clubs at Walmart or Sears for about $200.00, but it is important that you get the right length. The length is determined by the length of the arms, the stance and the way he swings, and you at least need to have him there to determine the best ones. You can also get a nice set online at www.nsearch.com/?k=Golf.

8. Golf Bag
A golfer needs a nice bag to keep his clubs in. These can be bought for about $50.00 for the cheaper ones, to much more if you want to get one made from leather.

9. Hat or Visor
Even if your golfer wears sunglasses when he plays golf, a hat or visor will help to keep the direct sun out of their eyes.

10. Golf Glove
This is one time when you buy gloves that you get just one because two isn't necessary. It helps the golfer to keep his grip on the club when swinging. A nice leather glove usually costs about $20.00 to $25.00,

11. Band to hold glasses on to his face
My husband has scratched many a set of shades because they went flying off his face when teeing off. You can get these in just about any store that sells good sunglasses.

These are just a few of the Father's Day gifts that I get for my men on Father's Day; and they love getting them almost as much as I love giving them.

Happy Father's Day!
