Father's Day Poem: in Memory of Byron Edward Baker

Wendy Alli
Happy father's day to my dad, so far away.
Around the fallen soldiers does he lay.
Planted around are very tall oak trees,
Places to hide tears, so noone can see.
You always saw something special in me,

Finding it these days is hard without thee.
A day hasn't gone by without thinking of you,
Thoughts of happy memories will never subdue.
Happy you found the peace that you needed,
Evicting the pain, towards the light you succeeded.
Remembering the days you instilled music in me,
Songs I still play exactly as you, from key to key.

Daunted, Mom was, that I did not cry,
A promise I made, she'll never know why.
Years of memories will never be lost,
Secrets, still kept, I will never accost.
