Favorite Bible Quotes

This is a bit different from the type of articles that I usually write and I would like to mention my inspiration for this piece. He is a man I have known and loved my entire adult life. We have recently made our ways back into each other's lives and he is the inspiration for this article. He has reminded me how good God is and how low that dirty devil is! And also how important it is to pray and give thanks.

These are but a few of my favorite biblical quotes. I don't pretend to know what they all really mean but I will give my take on them. I like to think of myself as a good and decent, caring person, though I don't go to church. I do believe in God. I am also a good humored person, or some might say I have a warped sense of humor, so I would like to guarantee that I mean no offense or disrespect. I just am what I am. First off, from the old testament is a favorite of mine- Do not envy a sinner, you don't know what disaster awaits him-

From another popular verse- Physician, heal thyself- I don't really get this one, but it really just sounds cool ! -What God has joined together, let no man put asunder- This is the epitamy of love and romance but at the same time it says, Hey these people are together so butt out and let them be.-Ye shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free- This one puts me in mind of Aunt Ester on Sanford and Son. She is so ridiculously funny! And the quote... so true. Even if the truth hurts and gets you in to trouble, you always feel a weight lifted from your shoulders. -Resist the devil and he will flee from you- This one I like because it feels powerful in a life where it is easy to feel so powerless.-Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was, and the spirit unto God who gave it- Of course this brings to mind a funeral, which is never pleasant. However it does have a comforting sound to it. Much more so than plain old ashes to ashes and dust to dust, which just sounds creepy and scary. -Be not righteous over much- I personally like this one because people who are overly full of themselves and so cocky really irk me bad!- Whatsoever a man soweth that so he will also reap- Yet another spin on what goes around, comes around. You reap what you sow. On a more upbeat note- It is better to give than to receive- I first understood this to be true when watching my kids on Christmas! It's a beautiful thing to give the gift of happiness and receive it back for free. I think this is one of the best feelings in the world. There are so many popular and not so popular, bible verses but those are just a few of my favs and my interpretations. To me this is another spin on what goes around comes around. So don't be jealous of that hustler cause every dog has his day! I would next like to mention from the book of John, -Judge not according to the appearance.- To me this says you can't judge a book by it's cover so don't even try. The prettiest person in the world might be one of the most black hearted and vice versa. This also goes along with the verse- Judge not lest ye be judged- And none of us want that! Let's be honest.
