Favorite City in Africa: Cape Town, South Africa

"Mother City of Africa"

Jennifer Bove
The breathtaking views seen everywhere in Cape Town, South Africa, will have you in absolute awe. Besides the views though, there is plenty more to do.

Restaurants in Cape Town, South Africa

Aubergine- At Aubergine you will eat true South African cuisine prepared at it's best. From South African produce to Crocodile-tail fillets, this restaurant takes great pride in the food they are serving their guests. During African travel I would recommend authentic African food as it's served here. The food is reasonably priced and they do accept some credit cards. Aubergine is located in the center of Cape Town. Address and phone are as follows:

39 Barnet St., Gardens, Cape Town, 8001
Phone: 021/465-4909

Beaches in Cape Town, South Africa

Blouberg Strand- Blouberg is very close to the main city of my favorite African city, Cape Town. Traveling by car it should take twenty minutes or less. This beach is on the west coast of the picturesque Table Mountain. From this beach you can set up such outdoor activities as windsurfing, fishing and of course sailing. Blouberg Strand is convenient to a variety of restaurants, movie theaters, and shopping centers.

Hotels in Cape Town, South Africa

No 17 on Loader- Is considered a "guest house" which is three floors, and then the roof. I mention the roof because you get a spectacular view of Cape Town, and it's beautiful surroundings. No 17 on Loader is close to cafes, restaurants, nightlife and pretty much anything else you are looking for. The continental breakfast is served to you in your room if you wish and is included in their rates. If you prefer you can also have your breakfast on the roof and enjoy the glorious view. They do not take credit cards, so be sure to have your Traveler's checks. Address and phone are as follows:

De Waterkant
Cape Town

Attractions in Cape Town, South Africa

Table Mountain- Table Mountain is an absolute must during African travel. Upon the mountain is a world of it's own. There are many species of animals that live here. One unique creature that lives nowhere else in the world is the Ghost Frog. There are also Rock Dassies which are from the rodent family, looking similar to the rabbit. There are also over 1,400 species of plant life. Visitors can travel to the top of Table Mountain by cable car. Enthusiasts may also climb the mountain since there are over 300 paths. Tourists are told to not attempt this without a guide though. For any information on this Mountain and the hikes you can contact:
Mountain Club of South Africa on 021-4653412

I hope this small guide helped those interested in Cape Town, South Africa. I found it to be both a beautiful and intriguing place.

You know, I had a friend who purchased a timeshare many years ago in South Africa. Everyone called her crazy. Turns out, she sold it last year to a couple from France who vacation at the Cape every year. My friend made a fortune! Cheers.
