Denver, CO 80206
United States of America
My husband and I used to live over in the area called Congress Park, which is in Central Denver. We could get to the downtown area in five minutes, lived right by the Botanical Gardens, and was five minutes away from the Denver Zoo and Nature and Science Museum. It was the perfect location to live and a quaint neighborhood.
Right out our front door, we walked a half a block and there was a little shopping center with Ace Hardware, a local grocery store, laundry facilities, Pete's Chinese Restaurant (Best place to get Chinese food), Zorba's Diner (Delicious Greek food), a gay/lesbian card shop and a neighborhood bookstore (no longer in business). We loved this neighborhood and on a nice sunny day (which was often) my husband and I would hang out at the coffee shop right at the corner of the block where we lived.
It was a neighborhood coffee shop called Dietrich's, but was bought by DazBog (1200 Clayton St, Denver, Colorado and open daily from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.). Despite that we don't live in this area anymore, we still visit the neighborhood located between Josephine and Clayton Street, because we like it so much. Someday we would love to get a house there, but it's a bit pricey to live in this area of town. DazBog is this small coffee shop with great tasting Russian coffee and the Chai Tea and hot cocoa are good, too, which is what I get, because I am not a coffee drinker.
My husband and I will spend under $10 for our beverages and sweet treats (cake, biscotti, pastry or bagel) and sit on the patio. The patio is not large, but there are about six or seven tables on the patio. We sip our hot, caffeine induced drink as we watch people walk by with their dogs. You can sit on the patio with your dogs if you want. The neighborhood is pretty quiet so it's nice to work at DazBog, which my husband and I have done often.
Edgewater Coffee Company
Now, we live in Edgewater, Colorado, which is in the city of Denver and just a tiny town right by Sloan's Lake. Edgewater is located on the Northwest side of Denver near the Highlands and Wheat Ridge. It takes 15 minutes to get downtown and we are very close to highway 6. In this little town called Edgewater, there is a main street on 25th Avenue where there is a liquor store, dog washing business, Pizza restaurant, Thai diner, a couple beauty shops and the Edgewater Coffee Company.
If you are ever in Denver or live here, you should come visit this little town of Edgewater. It has a small town feel to it and the residents get to know each other quickly. The Edgewater Coffee Company is a little local hangout where you can run in and get a large cup of Joe for a $1.90, medium size is $1.75 and small is $1.50. Other beverages available are tea, smoothies, espresso, hot cocoa, water and soft drinks. If you have time for a bite to eat, this little coffee shop has a breakfast and lunch menu. Some of the foods available are a breakfast burrito for $3.25, croissant sandwich for $3, waffles for $2.75, assorted cereals, bagels, and sandwiches range in price from $4-6, chips, cookies and fresh fruit. There is always a bowl of water and treats for our four-legged friends outside the coffee shop!
The hours for the Edgewater Coffee Company are Monday thru Friday from 6 a.m. -2 p.m. On Saturdays and Sundays, they are open from 7:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. You can schedule a time with them to have meetings there after 2 p.m. by calling 303-358-5630. If you want to show off your singing talents, every Friday night is "Open Mic: Talent Night." Head over there and belt out your favorite tune, you can show every one that you are the next Susan Boyle.
The Market at Larimer Square
Our favorite coffee shop is The Market at Larimer Square. This coffee shop is nestled right in the heart of downtown Denver by the 16th Street Mall. You can have lunch or dinner as you enjoy your coffee in the large dining area or sit outside and watch the downtown bustle. It is hard to find seating outside, because it's such a popular place to hang out and it can be pretty noisy, too. However, it's a great place to enjoy a sunny day in Denver.
If you feel the need to do some shopping while you are downtown, there are many shops on the 16th Street Mall or you can catch the FREE mall bus and ride up to the Pavilions to watch a movie or go bowling. The places you can shop are Express, Forever 21, shops where you can buy Colorado souvenirs, Payless Shoes, Rite Aid, NikeTown, specialty dog store, and many more shops!
Coors Field, The Pepsi Center, The Denver Art Museum, the library, Buell Theater, and the Denver Convention Center are all located downtown and not far from The Market. After or before a game, concert or show, you can head over to The Market for a tasty treat and a cup of Joe. Parking is tricky around The Market, so be prepared to walk quite a few blocks to hangout and sip some coffee.
The Market opens every day at 6 a.m. and is open until 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday, until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays and on Sunday closes at 10 p.m. You can stop by The Market before work to get a breakfast burrito or egg sandwich or country breakfast. There are many breakfast options to start your day off with a hearty meal. The Market has many salads to choose from as well as hot entrees, soups, and sandwiches. You can visit The Market's website to view all the options that they offer for lunch and dinner.
If you have a sweet tooth, The Market has the best selection of desserts, chocolates, cookies and pastries. My husband and I love to go to The Market to indulge on a piece of Spring Fling cake (it has fresh fruit in it) or Chocolate Oblivion or Carrot Cake or Strawberry shortcake and so many more desserts. The sweet treats at The Market are so delicious and a must to sample if you live or visit Denver!!
