Favorite MLB Stadiums

I love hearing those words "Play Ball". It is one of the reasons why I am such a fan of baseball. I love sitting in a baseball stadium absorbing the atmosphere. For me, it is just not the love of the game, but it is the joy of feeling the past that surrounds me while I sit in the stadiums watching the games. That presence of the past is what makes some of the greatest MLB Stadiums ever. The following are what I consider the best stadiums for baseball:

1. Fenway Park
4 Yawkey Way
Boston, MA 02215

Fenway Park is the oldest stadium in the country. It opened on April 20, 1912. The sinking of the Titanic was around the same time. On opening day the Red Sox beat the New York Highlanders (future Yankees) 7-6. 27,000 fans were there that day. It was named the Fenway because of the area it was built in was called the "Fens" in Boston. The manual scoreboard is still being used today. Behind the scoreboard you can still see all the signatures of past players. In the bleachers you will see one painted red seat. It is in Section 42, Row 37, Seat 21. This marks a moment in time forever as the longest measurable home run that has landed in Fenway Park. It was hit by Ted Williams on June 9, 1946. That is why Fenway Park is the best MLB stadium. It is a special place where past and present can be seen and felt.

2. Wrigley Field
1060 West Addison
Chicago, IL 60613
(773) 404-CUBS

Wrigley Field is another MLB stadium where you can sense the past while watching a game. It opened on April 23, 1914. It has a grass surface, and its capacity is 41,160. Right when you enter the stadium you can still see the red marquee saying "Wrigley Field Home of the Chicago Cubs". In the 1932 World Series is where Baby Ruth supposedly pointed to a bleacher section for his "called shot". History is what makes a MLB stadium great. My favorite part of the Wrigley Field is that after each game is played there is a flag flown over the scoreboard. A blue flag with a white "L" indicates their loss, and a white flag with a blue "W" indicates a win.

3. Tropicana Field
One Tropicana Drive
St. Petersburg, FL 33705

Tropicana Field may not be as old as some of the other MLB stadiums around, but it certainly can qualify as one of the most fun MLB stadiums to be at. It is nice to see a game where the weather is usually perfect. It does have an artificial surface and all dirt base paths. One of my favorite parts of the stadium is all the interactive areas that are in it and around it. There is fun for everyone. There are video game, picture taking, game shows, and carnival games to enjoy. My most favorite part of the stadium is the 10,000 gallon tank with over 30 crownose rays that fans can touch and feed during the game. The best part is if a player hits a home run into the tank the organization gives $2,500 to the Florida Aquarium and $2,500 to the player's choice of charity. You just can not have more fun than at this stadium.

Be sure to take pics when you go to baseball games. Who knows how long those stadiums will be around.
