Favorite Shark Attack Videos

Spring is upon us and summer is quickly following. That means beach time is here! Many people are going to visit the beach this year and probably frolic in the water. Like always, though, people need to be careful and wary of sharks.

Not afraid of sharks? Here are some of my favorite videos of shark attacks that may just change your mind.

(1) In this video, two great white sharks attack a surfer. The video does not offer sound and the quality is not great, but you can clearly see the two sharks hit the surfer. If you didn't see them the first go around, the movie continues with a part two which goes back and plays the video again, but this time with two markers pointing out the two mean sharks.

The surfer was able to walk away with minor injuries.

(2) This YouTube video features two men in Florida who ditch their windsurfing equipment for kayaks. They take fishing rods and paddle their kayaks out to the shark. When they throw bait to the shark, it takes it and runs. Once the boys have the shark on shore, they try to de-hook it. One man narrowly escapes being bitten. When another guy pokes his hand in the shark's mouth to grab the hook, the shark quickly clamps down on his hand. This man is barely hurt by the shark's extremely sharp teeth and powerful jaws, but maybe next time he will know better. Sharks shouldn't be played with like pets; they are dangerous fish!

(3) Ifthis video doesn't scare you, then I don't know what will. This video is graphic, so beware. A group of people decides to go swimming off the coast of Chile. They weren't expecting a 16-foot great white shark to appear and wreak havoc. In this video, you can hear a young lady screaming as the shark bites off her leg. You can see the blood fill the blue water as she struggles to swim and reach for safety. The emotions that this video contains are real and frightening. Luckily she wasn't out there alone and was able to get help before being killed by the shark!

(4) In this YouTube favorite video of mine, you get to see a great white shark up close. There are men in cages, so they are protected from the shark. However, that does not keep the shark from attacking the cage! If a shark is hungry enough, it will do anything in its power to eat. Take a good look at the shark's teeth, mouth, jaws, everything! They are powerhouses that should be feared.

This summer when you go swimming in the ocean, please be cautious and wary of your surroundings. The warm waters of the Gulf, Carolinas, Florida, and Georgia are particularly susceptible to shark bites, but that doesn't mean you can't be attacked elsewhere in the world. Don't swim alone and watch for lifeguards telling you if sharks are present. If they are, then don't go out. Even in waist-deep water, sharks of all kinds and sizes will still attack! Your life and limbs are more important than trying to tease a shark and being macho for your friends. Use your head - be smart. Hopefully these videos helped you realize the danger and destruction of sharks.
