Favorite Sports Movie?

Larry S
This is such a tough task, with so many great movies, both old and new. But since this article is all about choosing a favorite, here is mine: Field of Dreams.

The 1989 movie, starring Kevin Costner, in which family, baseball, belief, and love is all packaged
together in a great movie. This is not going to be a breakdown of the film, rather a celebration of
Hollywood that did something right.

This movie will bring a hard man to tears, conjure up memories of when we played catch with our dads, not video games. The belief in something so strong, you look past what should be done, and do what needs to been done. Field of Dreams draws from one of baseballs darkest times, the White Sox scandal of the early 1900's, and makes a hero out of "Shoeless" Joe Jackson. It takes us back to simple times, when life was hard, and athletes weren't spoiled, the love of a game is what you played for, not a paycheck.

Field of Dreams is about that second chance we don't get, the chance to turn back time, forgive, and try to learn life lessons, and love again. It makes us use that childhood imagination we all put away, and
brings it back.

Though not a true story, and that's the toughest decision when making the choice of favorite movie.
Field of Dreams makes us wish it could be real. Just think if we could somehow do something with a parent or loved one that is no longer with us, it could be something simple, maybe their favorite thing that we blew off as we grew older. Just that one last chance to share the love. Field of Dreams takes us there, and teaches that life is precious, and we should cherish every moment.

Today's generation should watch this movie, learn that life is more then a phone, facebook, or the need to be gratified immediately. We could all learn to take some time, and just enjoy each other
