Brett Favre was on fire during the 2009 season when he played for the Minnesota Vikings. He was a hero. But as we all know, in the blink an of eye things can change. They certainly have for Brett Favre. He threw his 17th interception for the season during the Minnesota Vikings-Green Bay Packers game on Sun., Nov,21,2010. The Vikings lost that game by a disgraceful score of 31-3. Brad Childress lost his job the following.
One person can't produce a winning team by himself of course, but one person's continuing major mistakes certainly contributes to the constant failure of the team. Last year Brett Favre took care of the ball and made age-defying throws into the end zone. This year Favre is constantly turning over the ball and the Vikings seemed to have suddenly lost last years magic. The team seems destined for doom.
The Minnesota Vikings seem to have a lot of unrest in their camp this year. Players weren't showing up for training camp on time, including Brett Favre. Some of the players were injured or ill, preventing them from playing and the Randy Moss uproar caused even more friction, especially between him and Childress.
The team that was a field goal away from reaching the door of the Super Bowl in the 2009 season is crumbling right before the eyes of all their loyal Minnesota fans. Can the team still be salvaged this season, or is it becoming a lost cause? With a 3-7 record for the season, hopes are fading fast. Will the firing of Coach Childress, fire up the team to do better, or will it only dig them deeper into despair? These are questions I guess that only the Minnesota Vikings themselves can answer.
I wonder if Brett Favre is asking himself today if he should not have let himself be pressured into returning to play another season for the Minnesota Vikings and just went into retirement as he was planning on doing. Does he wonder if Brad Childress's firing had anything to do with his performance as a Minnesota Viking player this season? Brett Favre himself will have to ponder on how to answer that one, I guess.
